Ulkokasvatus 2011

Tähän asti selvitty earlyjen kanssa ilman hometta. Tiuhaan on tullut maito/vettä suihkittuakin kyllä..tolla saatanan nutku suihkepullolla joka kusee käsille.

Aika synkkiä sääennusteita povataan, mutta en enää usko niitä. Koko kesän on ennustettu pän persettä. Nooh, eiköhän ne homeet tänäkin kesänä löydä miunki earlyt. Parin viikon sisään alkaa läikkiä löytymään ennustan.

Nyt kantsis annostella reilulla kädellä jotain kukitusnektaria noille. Forforin puute aiheuttaa vanhojen kasvinosien surkastumista ja sieltä lähtee aina homeet itämään!

I think in countries with a dryer after summer and humidity levels of around 50% Rh things might be different outdoors tho.

But ok I got your point, most everyone of us living outside typical "land race" area's (afganistan, former perzia, nepal or pakistan etc) will have to deal with a fair degree of mold.

And yes I agree with SP that for the bigger part mold can be delayed longest if all requiered nutrients are largely availeble to the plant.

As a breeder I use the following consept: I let ALL seeded female plants get mold by letting them in the field as long as possible. ( for auto flowering plants minimally 3, but up to 3.5 months.)

Then I only continue breeding with seeds from the ones that have witstood mould attack the best. (about 5 to 10% of all material available.)

But The weakest link for me are the males, since I have no way of testing them for mold and eliminate the ones that are prone to it from the gene depot.

In other words, my males will continue to spread the bad genes.

The only way to rid the bad properties of certain males known to me is by collecting, storing and labeling pollen from all individual males and then look afterwards wich pollen has produced the most mold resistend plants.

Then continue to make a line from mold resistand males as well as females.

For my amateur working ways however this would be all way to complicated for me.

Hmm, Maybe I should open a topic about it, and let ppl have their say on what they think would be the best way to rid inferior male genetics from our gene depots.

But only If someone else also thinks that that might be a good idea ofcourse....

Good idea's a plenty, but collecting heaps of energy and start pulling it off may be a different matter wha ?

What I do with males is look for other negative traits in females that are causing them to rot more easily. In Pehkuruder x Thyphoon line I've found out the most shortest and fastest females are most prone to mold so I discard all the earliest and shortest males when making seeds.

It's easy..kerää vaan pölyt, anna kuivua pari päivää. Pakkaa esim. minigrippi pussiin ja eikun pakkaseen. Parhaillaan oon ite säilytelly puoli vuotta pakkasessa ja sen jälkeen pöly toimii normaalisti...
niin, ite otan talteen vain pölyn, en ollenkaan vihreetä kasvimateriaalia...

Yeh one tip just SP, make sure that the males you are taking pollen from are beeing kept INDOORS at low humidity levels when you let them shed their pollen. !

And now you see why this way is becomming way to complicated for me.

I could do it under more relaxed circumstances but with the cops breathing down my neck it's a no brainer to me. Someone else please...?

I did take pollen and stored them a couple of times in the past but it is tricky, got to make sure there is no plant material inbetween the pollen before you freeze it.

Back then I use to collect it on a glass plate and removed all of the debris with a pair of tweezers while moving the dust around with a scraper.

Maybe you could try sieving it over a micro mesh type of"hash screen" made from a kind of material that does n't clogg up the pores, but I haven't tryed that myself.

Humidity is the main enemy to pollen, so just keep that in mind.





Ohw, and then I remember that the way to defreeze it is rather critical too.

If you take it out of the freezer where it was beeing kept at minus 18 degrees or so, and then expose it directly to warm air, then the next following will happen... Moist in the air will imediatly cling to your pollen with a good possibility of destroying it.

So you got to get it gradually from minus 18C to room temperature by first storing it in the fridge for a while and make sure that you expose it to as dry air as is possible when you defreeze it.


BTW, Those are good tips you gave out there SP.

Well, I have to disagree with this one. In my experience, defreezing pollen gradually is just waste of time and too much of hassle.
You can take it directly from freezer to room temperature, just let it sit for about an hour and your good to go...
When you take it out of freezer, remember to open bag/box/ whatever you use for storage...

Not a single patch of pollen gone bad for me for this. Actually you can spray your females with your frozen pollen, directly from freezer. It will work

Maybe you had dryer humidity levels as I have BG.

When I did it like that, it immediatly got so wet that the pollen dust would just "chunk" together and became unpossible to spray.

But it is good to know that under circumstances it is also possible to do with less of a hassle so I will have to thank you for your piece of input here BG.

Blue Ruder Haze, vasemmanpuoleinen ei tuntunut oikein sietävän hometta, sen siemenet saavat jäädä pois jatkojalostuksesta.

Muuten kyllä kestivät hyvin ja oikein hienoja kasveja, tästä on kiva jatkaa!



Auto-Ak siemenprojekti, menivät kuukauden liian myöhään ulos mutta ihan hyvältä näyttää, sato jää vaan hieman pieneksi.

Potentiaalinen lajike tämä. Kukinta on tosiaan hidasta - late bloomer. Vähän jalostais ni a´vot! Mulla oli viime kesänä 4 daamia ja moisia keihäitä niistä kasvoi. Homeisia kukintoja poistelin vain muutaman peukalonpään kokoisen nokareen, enkä ruiskutellut mitään homeenestoja. Sulla näyttää kukinta olevan asteen pidemällä ku meikäläisellä oli tähän aikaan viime vuonna, tosin spotti ei ollut mikään paras mahdollinen. Hyvää jazzitupakkaa silti syntyi k*l*n verran tuoreena.

Hyvän näköistä suomi-prkl, saispa jostain itekki hyviä ulkosiemeniä. Tän vuode siemennys prosessi meni aivan vatuiks.

Toivotaan ettei pääsekään homeet pesiytymään. Mihin aikaan kaadoit viime vuonna? Nää on kylvetty toukokuussa ja viety parin päivän esikasvatuksella ruukuissaan ulos niinku kaikki mun kasvit. Ulkokasvatus on ulkokasvatusta Urkkeja ei tullut näistä yhtään ja en halunnut näitä siemenillä pilata, sääli sinänsä kun ovat kesän kestävimmät kasvit.
