Dr.Dutch - According to current science, the universe is forever expanding and will do so for the next 10X10>2 million years. Until it slows, stops expanding, and then implodes, much like an explosion or "big bang" if you've heard this term. Think of an explosion in ultra slow motion camera. It expands and expands, then slows, and comes back in, imploding. Same as say a bomb.
By that time, it is uncertain whether or not our sun will even still exsist. The gravitational pull (which is GREAT) is slowly pulling the orbit off all our planets towards it and eventually into it. We won't be around for that. We're talking unfathomable amounts of time here.

I've seen them personally and can say for a fact, I have no clue what they were.
Well, a few thoughts :
- Probably 95 or 99% or UFO sightings have an explainable reason (misinterpretation, meteorologic balloon, secret plane, ...) but the remaining can't be explained and can't be denied (airplane pilots/police/army witnessing things).

- If there was to be an "encounter" in the future, it would rather be "them" coming at us, hence "they" would have such an advance in technology/sciences (even social ones)/... that we would appear to them as somekind of cavemen or quite basic forms of life.
- If there was to be an "encounter" (bis) : It's already difficult (just an example) for occidental scientists to understand the culture of native culture/language of some natives (like in New Guinea) that it would be quite impossible for us and "them" to understand things about the other (and due to "their" advance, they would take the lead).
- The fact that "they" are already visiting the Earth since -maybe- milleniums is a strong possibility. Basic scientific thinking lets think that "they" would observe us without interfering (like when you go to the zoo or in a zoological park).
- It's possible that some alien spaceships have crashed in the past on our planet : nowadays, if such a vehicle was discovered, what's called "reverse engineering" could bring many discoveries.
And last thing : if one were to pile up sheets of paper the height of the Eiffel tower (1000 ft), History of Humanity would be equivalent to 2 of those sheets only (that makes everything very very relative....!).

When one considers the various belief systems one does not agree with for whatever, possibly very sensible reasons, one thing becomes clear: all that is needed for a new religion or culture is to believe in it and to convince someone else, and then to find some kind of "objective truth" in order to back up the belief and show that one is not in the throws of cognative dissonance.
Once believed, it is usually impossible to dissuade one not to believe, even if the believer is shown incontrovertible evidence that the original proof was a hoax.
It is exactly what Robert Anton Wilson talks about in his the Thinker and Believer from "Prometheus Rising."

Those who want to believe will believe no matter what lack of proof and conversely those that think it is goofy and generally paranoid to worry about UFO's in the course of every day trials and tribulations, which is something we can do absolutely nothing about if it is true, will disbelieve no matter what proof is given.
I will say this: the likelihood that hard core extraterrastrials are gonna go to Stevensen TX and be furtive about it, as opposed to landing in Central Park or on the lawn of the White House or the Kremlin or at a large military base landing strip or under the ocean is almost nil.
The video that showed of the UFO at the airport looked like a very bad video editing job, that got past the news editor who determines what is newsworthy and should be put on the air and what should not. Meaning it was a prank or a mistake that something that should have been resigned to facebook and youtube got on national televison.
I think this is basically the direct result that the clamp down on the national media after the second invasion of Iraq was launched caused firings among those expereinced news editors that actually believed in free speech and were removed or resigned under duress by the various aspects of the Bush Administration. The media began the transistion during the first Bush election, before the Supreme Court actually ruled for Bush over Gore. Military Intelligence and the NSC have so-called retired personel working in editorial capacities at Fox News and other national news networks.
My point is: when the clamp down and censorship on formerly trusted journalists in the media becomes so intense that nobody bothers to watch or read them anymore, they come out with something absurd to once again draw the viewer. Consider the Edward R Murrow interviews with Liberace, I mean those were more absurd than Nixion's Checker's Speech.
Anything-- as long as we don't look at the actual data on American military and private contractor deaths, or data on how much the War on Terror is costing, or the government's own data from the GAO (governmental accounting office) on where the huge chunks of cash to fund black ops in South America where they are basically spraying RID/Frontline from helicopters on indigenous peoples via mercenary private contractors.....
I mean, you are absolutely right, I should absolutely fear the possibility of potential space aliens rather than the absolute fact that the U.S. government has been taken over by power hungry lawyers and multinational companies whose majority stakes are owned by less than 1% of the U.S. population and who directly make life and death decisions for our families no different than ancient Rome.......
