And as soon as they gain enough of a following, Twitter or Facebook will buy them up.
True. But Ebay also doesn't offer a competitively priced alternative and slap their name on it, directly competing with people who pay to be on there. Like Amazon does.

My problem isn't with large companies. I happen to work for one that is frickin' awesome to their employees. What I have a problem with are monopolies. Of which right now there are several. And a couple of them directly led to the mess we are in right now.
Not if they don’t sell.

Or Walmart or target.
What I find on Amazon can usually be found cheaper elsewhere. It’s like looking at a Sears catalog and then buying from Monkey Wards..
In this age of globalization, there are few true monopolies.

The internet is boundless. Globalized.
Lots of competition.

When a company gains exclusive rights from government is when monopolies are formed. AT&T was in that position. I believe Standard oil to some extent.

what ever dude, IC mag is just the same as twitter, sure, why the fuck not, lmao.....when you doing that ipo Gypsy?

Exactly. Why the fuck not?

Price is everything. RIU makes the right offer...This is a business. That’s all it is. A chance to buy the wife some nice things or provide a forum for folks to squabble.

i'll give you one thing, your ability at mental gymnastics to sustain your world view about 'everything', is second to none on this forum. Bravo!

first it's: oh twitter and facebook are evil they helped Trump win, then a few years later, oh my hero jack saved democracy from Trump woopee.... LMAO.

True enough. I'm sure that Trump would be banned from here if he were to carry on the same as he was on Twitter.

even more ridiculous equating an anonymous cannabis site with twitter a huge conglomerate where real names are used and where bans are permanently attached to your real life name, where making a new account after banning is bannable.

just be honest you got what you wanted short term and don't really care about the precedent it sets. i can accept that, and as i said before, im actually happy this has happened. at least people had their eyes opened to the potential power in the tech giants hands.

now it's up to every nations people what to do about it. ie continue relying on a US based giants to hold public discussions with the citizenry, or build national alternatives. every people must decide themselves.

i did notice that whats app is getting abandoned for telegram and signal in droves now they say you have to allow face book to spy on all your phone activity to use whats app.

so another one who thinks IC mag and twitter is the same. ic has a nish, we operate in that nish, we never invited presidents to use our platform to speak to their citizens, we never move in to the real world. we don't even use real names and anyone banned can just make a new account. how you can see that as being on par with twitter/facebook i do not understand.

but in the end i am celebrating with you. just for different reasons, lmao.

Exactly what I said.

Your "principles" end where you see fit.

LOL, I checked out that Bean Basement site and alla those wonderful virtues (Zeez/unc) have been extoling go a long way towards explaining why BB currently has 17 members and 12 guests while ICMag has 136 members and 782 guests AND Zeez/unc posting in the Speaker's Corner! :D

.......... 'nuff said, I rest my case! ;)

It sounds like IC mag is a monopoly in the canna forum sector...

But then there’ll be a new start up. The big boys are buying up old stuff. Twitter will die on its own. The reason everybody is on Twitter and Facebook is because everybody else is on Twitter and Facebook.
So will Amazon.
Been to Sears lately?
Fedmart?
Gemco?
KMart.
Amazon took share from Walmart. Walmart took share from all of the above after they took share from each other.
Amazon lost a sale to SDTruckSprings last week. Firestone airbags were $60 cheaper. Times 4, that was $240 saved. Another stimulus I’m buying shocks. Not from Amazon.
Competition is everywhere on the internet.
Where we get fouled up is government bailouts acting on an uneven field.

No equating intended at all; I only implied that such behavior would be banned or censored on ICmag. Period. The rest of your response is your own making.

I got nothing from this. You have no idea what I care about and I don't love you 'putting words in my mouth.' In reality my thought on such subjects is that everyone should be treated the same; president or pauper.

now it's up to every nations people what to do about it. ie continue relying on a US based giants to hold public discussions with the citizenry, or build national alternatives. every people must decide themselves.

Agreed.

That sucks.

Nish

A mysterious individual who reveals little about himself. Some may think they know him well, but the fact is, they probably don't. Some people call him funny. Some, witty. Some think he's an idiot. Blocking people is easy peasy. Just admit it, I'm your favorite IC member. :comfort:

Actually you are. I’m just blocking the propaganda. I don’t need the aggravation.

Their software doesn’t recognize the parentheses only what’s inside of them.

Oh gee, look at that. A competing product that was bought up by a monopoly to help them corner the market.

I used What's App until the day they were bought by Facebook. Same with Waze until they were bought by Google. Every damn time I find a decent app, one of the big 4 come along and gobble it up turning it into shit.

Something you can try for interests sake is to use a dns sinkhole to block all services from GAFAM and observe how many websites are broken.

Same thing happened at Lynda.com ... then it was bought by Linked in.

But then Linked in was bought by Microsoft.

Lynda used to be a great tutorial website.
