Twisted purple curlies

Nearly half my outdoor in the N.E. U.S. have twisted purple curly leafage on the tops. I've seen this before, and it isn't terminal but I was wondering if anyone knew the cause and if its preventable. Anyone?:chin:

don't quote me on this but i think it might be a minor deficiency cause by cooler than normal root temperatures

Yeah i get this too in the NE. I also know its not terminal but would like to know exactly what it is. I believe it might be phosphorous deficiency, which can happen in cooler temps.

Sorry no pictures. But this is very distinctive, it is a dark purple coloration like grape jelly which appears in an irregular pattern mostly on grow shoots.

Purple coloration is due to anthocyanins showing through, they are always present but chlorophyll usually masks the purples and reds associated with anthocyanins.

Tops usually only twist due to zinc deficiencies.
