Trump thread part 2 (Or anything else we want to talk about that's ridiculous in politics today)

There's always someone to pick from with some morels lol.
haven't seen any morels in the woods this spring...yet. if you run a person of "good morals and character" anywhere outside of a church election (and some of those are questionable) then you are in trouble most of the time. Jimmy Carter was probably the best person to win the presidency in recent years, but was of no relevance as our president. he was too good of a person to be an effective politician. "you have to be trusted, by the people that you lie to, so that when they turn their backs on you, you'll get the chance to put the knife in..." :sasmokin: it takes a certain mind-set to be a politician...

Ok, Skip the ballistic bitch slap and go right for the hanging. They won't snap out of it anyway.
i'm thinking of the damage you might do to your hands from trying to slap sense into them...those are some thick skulls we are talking about.:shucks: i'd use a glove with a brick in it like Bugs Bunny does...

I was just looking at some of Bugs "AhhhhShaadap" clips earlier today.

What comes to mind now is Jethro Tull - Thick As A Brick.
There's no way to get through to them. Reminds me of deprogramming a Jehovahs Witness.

Well the way I see it the problems all start when people convince themselves nothing can be done or that whatever they do doesn't matter. It's that thinking that allows the corruption to get the foot in the door and then they proceed to give all the nay sayers evidence to continue to believe what they believe and then even more corruption gets their foot in the door and the problems spread like a virus. Unfortunately things have gotten so bad that it's going to require generations of voters tryng to bring about change to have any chance of things improving. it's doable but i'm not so sure the voters have the will to stick to it. First of all we need every voter that's eligable to vote to get out there and vote, something that i'm not even sure if it has ever happened. Usually it's about 1/3rd of the total population participating and picking the people who will be representing everyone, including the 2/3rds not reflected in the vote.

It not enough though that people just vote because another big problem is that too many people are so uninformed that they just end up voting for the names they recognize. Still even if they know who they vote for and the policies they stand by it doesn't stop there. The voters have to stay engaged so they can hold politicians acccountable by voting them out when they fail to live up to their promises. It would take several cycles of that at least before the politician's and the people that buy them off see that things aren't working and start to actually do the right thing. Unfortunately the average voter struggles so much just trying to get thru their daily lives that without some major changes to make their lives better, it's unlikely they'll be able to stick with holding their representatives accountable long enough to see any real improvement.

As if all of that weren't enough there are things that need to change that help the corruption to continue that need to change as well. Things like term limits and apparently now we even need that to apply to Supreme Court Justices since even they can no longer be trusted. Also we need an end to the electoral college, we need to outlaw gerrymandering and we need laws preventing politicians convicted of crimes from being able to hold public office ever again. For more then just a handful of select crimes. Unfortunately the very people we want to reign in by these changes are the same people that would have to make these changes law and why would they want to pass laws that work against their self interests?

we don't need more people voting. we need more intelligent & educated voters. we've seen what happens when intelligent folks shrug their shoulders and don't go to the polls because "if voting mattered, they wouldn't let us vote..." if the stupid folks don't go to the polls, i'm okay with it. they don't understand the issues anyway.

Teflon Don could be used for Trump big time. I've never seen anyone get away with crimes as much as Trump has. It's def changed my opinions much more about lawless rich people.

No clue why they Fired DL. It had to be more than that Nikki BS.

I'm thinking DT isn't all that special for evil goings ons
just 1 that had some degree of "charisma", reality tv, and the screwy idea of running for office as a business gimmick
depressing to think that worse may rise to the surface from the american slime reservoir

I get what you're saying but there's just one problem with not etting the stupid people vote. Who gets to decide who the stupid people are? Most of us would agree that the MAGA/QAnon crowd are the stupid people, given the crazy things they openly claim to believe, yet if you were to ask any of them who the stupid people are they would point to anyone not willing to vote for Trump and call us all sheeple who blindly believe the Fake News Media. Wvwn though the News Media they blindly follow just settled out of court to the tune of 3/4 billion dollars just to avoid it coming out just how fake they are.

they out themselves every day, in so many ways . they can't drive, they can't park, they have no damned idea what turn signals are for, they can't spell, they think that "grammar" is a fucking actor, and they are convinced that being loud and obnoxious is "the 'murican way"... i could go on for days, but i'm teaching my cat to yodel this afternoon. it's simpler than explaining to some dimwit why that voting for a career criminal because you like his racist schtick is ignorant.

Yeah, I didn't mention it but that would definitely be in the group pf things I mentioned at the end of my previous post that would need to change. I would love to see a new system where a pool of money was created, where anyone could contribute, even big corporations but instead of it going to whoever the contributor wanted it would be split equally among all candidates so that it was a level playing field and no politician would know who the money they got came from in order to not feel beholding to any individual or company for the money. Further it wouldn't just be handed out so the politicians could do whatever they wanted but instead it would be set up as a credit account that they could draw from but only after submitting detailed documentation of what it was for and even then the money would be paid out on their behalf. With the hopes that would keep the money from personally enriching the politician.

Of course in a system like that there probably wouldnt be many politicians running for office and probably not many people or corporations donating money.

Oh and speaking of Citizens United if we did manage to get a Supreme Court to overturn it, how much do you want to bet that Republicans would be screaming foul about overturning settled law even though they had no problem with it when Roe v Wade was overturned?

Don Lemon is a shitbag. Full stop. And this Town Hall CNN is hosting with Sweet Potato Hitler is going to blow up in their faces.
I think it already has, i've been hearing reports that their ratings have been dropping like a rock ever since it was announced and it hasn't even happened yet. Ratings aside though it would blow up in their face anyway because everyone has got to know that Trump will use it in a way to punish CNN for all the negative coverage he got from them the past several years and is still getting.

Obviously they out themselves the only way to judge intelligence/stupidity is by evaluating what people say and do. Still that leaves the question of who gets to decide? I mean just look at Jan 6th. it was broadcast live on tv and so the whole nation had the opportunity to see what was happening. Most of us saw a violent insurrection but then there is a whole group of other people who were threatened by it and have the job of making the laws we live by, who saw a group of friendly peaceful tourists.

Now if it was some politcally unbiased judge evaluating people on objective things like the inabiity to drive or park, use turn signals, understand elementary level grammer, I would be okay with that because I know it would be targeting people uniformly regardless of their political affiliation. If however it is just based on them liking a candidate we don't like then that just makes us no better then how the republicans are already.

I'm not talking about just that. I'm speaking to the fact that Trump can't tell the truth. So he'll more than likely say something defamatory about someone and CNN won't push back on his claim so that will open CNN up to a defamation lawsuit. They're going to FOX themselves. :ROFLMAO:
