Okay this is old news from weeks ago. I'll gladly admit I was not well versed in Nazi dog whistles at the time. I have no shame in not being well aware of coded messages Nazi's use to fly under the radar.
no shame involved, just pointing out that this is very real and how fascists speak to one another.

Oh I know, I didn't take it like you were trying to shame me, I was just trying to say I don't feel bad at all for not knowing how Neo Nazis communicate with one another. I do appreciate though you making me aware of some of their codes so I'll recognize it in the future but still I mainly recognize people like that by their hate.

in fairness, there IS no "quick/painless" solution for runaway inflation. he did say that "it will probably get a lot worse before it gets any better". even GOOD medicine tastes like shit and takes time to work. no panaceas out there. sorry...:(
The whopper of inflation came while chump was spreading covid and they called it "supply chain issues".
Prices never came back down.

in all honesty, there WERE supply chain issues, just as there were worker shortages in some industries, like meat-packing plants. and we will NEVER have enough truck drivers until they quit testing for cannabis. people keep telling me "prices keep going up, blahblah is too expensive..." gas prices keep dropping here. it will never get back to the 17 cents a gallon it was when i was a kid though. beef IS up, but chicken has gone down. pot is cheaper too! :D pork is higher, but then, they slaughtered and buried millions of hogs that grew too large (>250#) before they could be butchered.

Just in case some people don't know, because they''re to new to politics, there is this thing called "The October Surprise" which is traditionally something that happens unexpectedly or some news story that breaks in October that upsets or harms one campaign or the other. This year the October surprise is impacting the Trump campaign and it's a rather unusual one, although it's actually quite fitting. The October Surprise negatively impacting the Trump campaign is that Trump is still in the race. Now I realize all the Trumps won't get how that's the October Surprise but anyone paying attention to politics that isn't someone blinded by the orange sheen coming off Trump's face totally understands.

As for inflation, there really is no one simple answer. Of course there was the supply chain disruption caused by the pandemic but that should be obvious and go without saying because it impacted the whole world and created crazy supply and demand issues that allowed the price in certain items to go up ssuch as in demand electronics and certain new cars. Another huge factor that nobody ever mentions though was
Trumps unnecessary trade war with most every country Trump had some gripe with where he raised tarriffs with the increase in costs created by the tarriffs getting added directly to the bottomline of whatever they were applied to. Then there were things like people with money taking advantage of the historically low interest rates by buying up most of the available housing to turn into rental properties (usually with rental rates that exceeded the rate of traditional rental properties who in turn raised their rates when they saw the rates these new landlords on the market were getting and because the demand on rental properties had gone up because it became so difficullt to find homes to buy. To a lesser degree there were all those people who decided while they were shut in at home, that they were worth a lot more then they were getting paid and refused to go back to their old jobs. This forced certain emplyoers to have to offer better wages just to get people to come back to work. Really though the worst part of it came from all the companies that once they saw inflation was rising, took advantage of the opportunity to raise their prices even if they weren't impacted by any of the other factors driving inflation. Also there were the various shortages in the meat market that armedoldhippy mentioned but I don't think of those as inflation because it's something that happens beyond anyone's control and has been going on sporadically for at least the past decade. Another obvious cause that I never hear anyone mention is the war in Ukraine and how that effected the oil markets.

What really surprises me tough isn't that so many seem to be unable to recognize the real causes of the recent inflation (which was far less then most of the rest of the world) but rather this ideea that so many seem to have that when inflation goes down as it has been doing, that prices will come down right down along with it. The prices we see are the new normal. They will come down some with inflation dropping but at some future point and companies will resist it every step of the way unless or until they see their projected profits dropping due to lack of sales. Even then companies will reduce prices in small increments and fairly slowly, trying to hold onto as much of the new normal that they can. The only thing that will change that is if consumers stop buying thngs they don't really need urgently and/or if they shop for the cheapest item of the things they do need even if that means dealing with a cut in quality. Essentially consumers need to boycott as many overpriced things as they can. That will force the companies to reduce prices in response to a decreased demand. Unfortunately the things that people need rather then want, will come down the slowest and may even not come down at all because it will be difficult for consumers to boycott those items. Also with the holidays upon us and traditional shopping holiday like Black Friday and Cyber Monday will keep consumption at a fairly high rate. Once the holidays are over though, especially in the first quarter of next year there should be a sharp decline in prices as companies prepare for tax season by reducing their inventories. Unless of course Trump somehow manages to win and starts doing all the things he says he;ll do, that have most economic experts saying will tank the economy and bring on a recession or maybe even a depression.

it'll be okay. The Chump will claim the depression actually started during the Biden/Harris term, and "only HE can save us" but we have to give him a third (unconstitutional) term to do so...

Yeah, that sounds about like what he would say, even if it didn't start to happen until 2 years after Biden is out of office.

I would say that there have actually been a number of October Surprise worthy stories, only we're so used to stuff like that involving Trump it just feels like business as usual.

"surprises" prob won't move the needle for the pro-Chump mob. i'm starting to think that he could give a speech and open up with a pistol at the fawning disciples in the front row; all he would have to do is tell the crowd that the victims were RINO spies, and they would put the merely wounded ones out of their pain for Chump & save his ammunition...:shucks:

Yeah for his die hard supporters that sounds about right. I mean for them Jesus Christ could descend from the heavens on a white horse and holding a flaming sword snd pronounce Trump as the Anti Christ and they would just call it fake news. Trump has been doing a fair job of weeding out the non true believers though by that stunt with his rally in Coachella where everyone had to be bused out to the rally site but when it was over he sent the buses home early leaving hundreds of supporters to haave to walk several miles back to get to their cars. Or the more recent rally where he was already an hour late and then called from his plane to say that because it was important for him to be on Joe Rogan's podcast he would be another 3 hours late, causing hundreds of his supporters to leave rather then wait for him. What really puzzles me of the vast majority of voters that are still faithful to him, nothing he did in his first Presidency benefited any of them and none of the little bit he has talked about doing if he gets re-elected will benefit any of them. In fact if he goes thru with his tariff plans and with cutting Social Security and Medicare many of them will be just as screwed as everyone else will be if he does those things. So it really makes you wonder just exactly what do they hope to gain from another Trump presidency?

Just an FYI - They have moved on from "fake news" and now call it all "ai".
