I’ve continued maintaining a 40-80% moisture content in the solo cups but I have begun feeding the plants Crop Salt Veg A/B. First (2) feeds have been @ 1.0EC/6.2pH. Im going to start feeding them daily now @ 1.5EC/6.2pH. Everything is looking good, plants seem very happy! Environmental conditions have been 70-85 degrees with 35-55% humidity. I would normally want my humidity to be up around 65% but I’m struggling as this time of year it’s normally 10% outside.
And we’re back! I apologize for the inactivity over the past couple of weeks, I was locked out of this account because I forgot the password and unfortunately my recovery email was inaccessible. Tonight I magically remembered the password and I’m back baby!
Everything is moving along nicely with the True Doh’s. Ive had a hard time eliminating any from veg because they all have beautiful structure and smells. (3) plants were eliminated during transplanting from solo cup to 6”x6” pots. Those that were eliminated were my least favorite (in veg) of the 50, but they were still very nice! I’ve continued using Pro Mix and feeding Crops Salt nutrients. I feed every watering and feed has consistently 1.7EC/6.2pH. Plants are looking great!
A good number of plants to look through. Very healthy too, I like CMH for growing and flowering. Lots more photons...Looking forward to this, I've run a few of True canna offerings and all is good.
Plants got to the point where branches and tops were ready to take cuttings. I determined out of all the remaining plants what (5) plants had the least desirable structure and they were eliminated before taking cuts. (2) Clones were kept of each keeper pheno. (8) total plants were eliminated during the seedling and veg stages (they were my least favorites) of the 50 original plants.
Cloning was performed using Techniflora cloning gel and Root Riot plugs pre-soaked in plain well water (0.2EC/6.0pH). Areas to be cut were slightly scarified over a 1/2” area using the sharp edge of a blade and then cut at a 45 degree angle on the bottom edge of scarified stem portion. Immediately after cutting, each cut is dipped in rooting gel for 10 seconds and then fit into a prepped Root Riot plug. Little grow hack for you, I use the Root Riots upside down and just poke a little hole using my scalpel. This works really good and clones are more stable sitting in a Grodan tray insert like that.
After taking cuttings plants were trimmed up to the top and put back in my 4 x 8 tent w/ 12/12 adjusted lighting. The trick here is I’m gonna sex the plants that I took the cuts off of while those cuttings are rooting up so that by the time the clones are ready Ill know which ones are girls and which ones are boys.
Below I’ve posted some docs from Crop Salt’s page on Instagram describing how they recommend cloning. I basically follow what I said above in combination w/ what these documents call for.
Clones have been planted into 6x6 pots filled with 100% coco coir. The Coco coir I used this time was from a brand named Harris and it comes in brick form so I had to expand the brick myself. Overall I was very pleased with the quality of the coco coir and this is probably the best brick I’ve ever expanded. Plants are loaded onto a 3 x 6 tray and are sitting underneath (2) Sun System 315 CMH lights. I’m gonna let the plants veg for a week or two and then will send them in to flower!
Note:
I am running out of crop salt and will be running House and Garden on this flower run. Coco coir was buffered using H&G Cocos A/B and I have watered once w/ Cocos A/B @ 1.4 EC / 6.0 pH.
The (20) selected females are now under 12/12 lighting to start flowering out. I’m still using (2) Sun System, 315 LEC/CMH’s. I am using new Ushio 3000K bulbs for this flower run. The nutrients that I’m using are House and Garden, Cocos A/B base along with the full lineup of additives per H&G “normal” feed chart. All of the plants look super happy right now, lets get it on!
Temperature has been maintained between 76-80 during lights on, 66-70 with the lights off. Humidity has been maintained between 40-60%. Unfortunately it’s winter time here and it’s super dry out so I’m having to run a humidifier nonstop to achieve an average of 50% in my room.
Week 1 of flower has come to an end and we are now in week 2. Multiple plants had fan leaves that were the size of my hand by the end of week 1 so I decided to do my first round of defoliation. I defoliated pretty heavy this time around and intend to do this again around week 3 prior to bud production. I am feeding the plants daily now following the House and Garden recipe for week two. pH Of nutrients going in has been maintained between 5.8-6.2.
