Hey I got a couple buddies who are truckers.politacal agenda aside it's a lot harder to drive a 16 wheeler.i was just a passenger and those seats hurt.until you've done it don't talk shit about truckers.unless you hunt your food you wouldn't have shit

my dad drove for over 30 years. bad back, hemorrhoids, leg pain, a terrible fondness for pharmaceutical methamphetamines ( for weight loss, of course!) horrific problems sleeping, you name it. not the same caliber of person on the roads many times now. they all USED to truly be "professionals"...many still hold to those standards, but you read about the others all the time...deregulation has been, to be honest, what one might call "a mixed blessing".

The ride is a lot smoother when the truck and trailer have 18 wheels.

My Dad and his brother had a trucking company back in the 40's-70's. Till the Teamsters ran them out of biz.

But that's how I learned to drive. use to drive the tractors around the building. One when I was about 14 Dad had a truck and trailer and said take it down the road to the factory and back it in. WTF. Well I had no problem getting down there but had to beg a guy to back it in for me. I think it was a set up....

I drove the road for a couple years. The company (Swift) had the slowest trucks but would let you run as crooked a logbook as you were smart enough to keep looking legal. Driving a truck is a very hard way to make a living, and very dangerous. It is even more dangerous sleeping behind a student driver.

Before that I got offerred a construction job and they told me to drive to Vicksburg. I smoked a doob on the way and was being piss tested as soon as I walked into that chemical plant to work. I dipped some of the blue water from the toilet and added it to my piss. Nothing was said. Funny story, I went into the riverboat casino when I got to town, for something to do. I went to the back under the progressive jackpot sign and found a 25 cent machine. An old black guy was there watching his daughter play the next machine and I asked if I could play the one he was sitting in front of. The jackpot was $275,000. I put in a $20. Only pushed the button twice instead of 3 times, and on that first roll I hit the progressive jackpot. Only paid $275 because I only had 2 quarters instead of 3. So I had to work instead of going back home with a pocket full of money. You should have seen that black dudes eyes get wide fuckin open when the bells went off.

Canada's chief public health officer said Friday the federal government is actively reviewing all of its vaccine mandates with an eye to ending rules that force some people to get their COVID-19 shots.

...

Omicron changed everything: Tam

Tam said all federal vaccine mandates are under review now because the science tells us the primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine — the first two doses — offers very little protection against the Omicron variant.

While scientists and vaccine developers initially thought those first two shots would reduce transmission of the COVID-19 virus, the emergence of new variants with different characteristics has upended that thinking, Tam said.

Vaccine mandates were first pitched as a way to make some spaces safer by limiting entry to the vaccinated. But given what is now known about the primary series' effectiveness against transmission, those policies are being reviewed, Tam said.

"The game changer has been an Omicron variant, which is a vaccine-escape variant," Tam said.

"What we know is that, with the Omicron variant, having two doses — the protection against infection and further transmission goes really low. You really need a third dose to provide augmentation against transmission. All that should be taken into account as the federal government looks at the policies going forward."

While the first two doses do very little to stop someone from contracting COVID-19, Tam said they still offer some protection against severe outcomes like hospitalization and death.

Omnicron killed their little virus scare. It spreads fast, gets everybody infected with sniffles, and makes them immune. Over and done. Put foochie back away.

On to Ukraine and those pesky Russians.

The People’s Convoy got a taste of its own medicine on Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C., when a single bicyclist moving at a snail’s pace brought the truckers to a near halt by occupying an entire lane of traffic in front of them. “Hey, what are you doing? You have a bunch of trucks behind you,” a convoy live streamer yelled at the cyclist. “You got a bunch of trucks behind us.” The biker then trolled in response: “What’s that? I didn’t hear you...I didn’t hear you, what did you say?” After the streamer snapped back, “You have a bunch of trucks behind you,” the cyclist replied: “I’m sorry, I can’t hear you—it’s too loud.” The unidentified cyclist replied as he continued to ride in front of the truckers at a plodding pace. Elsewhere, the convoy experienced turmoil among its own ranks on Saturday as one lead trucker diver accused fellow truckers of committing an “abduction.”

having someone on a bicycle fuck them up must have been the last straw for these dedicated "Freedom Riders", lol. having been stymied by red lights, public apathy, traffic, and folks flipping them off for being dickheads, they now melt back into the anonymity most so desperately crave after the scope of their failure became clear ...
