I still say that preventing smell from entering the room is the best cure for smell escaping the room. If there's nothing to smell inside the room, there's nothing to smell outside the room.

i have a big scrubber on the inside of the tent, sucking through that out the tent out the window...so if anything, it should be smelled outside if anything.

i also made an airfreshener from an icecream bucket and a dc fan, it works well, but makes everything smell like ona.....yuck.

i havent had any issues with fresh smelling plants since i last flushed my plants in the bathroom tub, and had the bathroom fan on...wouldnt that be funny if that fan pulled the air out and into the hallway? farty, poopy smelling air into the hallway, disgusting, but duly noted never to flush in the tub again. but definitely smoking indoors gets the smell into the hall. no matter what

thought i was okay doing that too, since i have all the weatherstripping, under door buffers and such on my front door, and around it.

i can handle the, "we can smell your pot smoke in the hall." especially when my landlord goes to my pals place to grab smoke and do lines....so he's fairly okay with such. and living in canada helps GREATLY...but....
the statement that makes my heart palpitate is the,"smells like fresh plants"....

scary to say the least. i fully agree i have to get rid of the smell first, perhaps a recirculating carbon scrubber? think itd work?

id like to make a lot of money, and rent a house. f this

If you can find the main place it escapes (under front door, a window, whatever) place a bucket of Ona gel there, it will get sucked out with the smoke and does a good job covering odors. I love the smell of ona, good shit.

Or as mentioned above, an ozone generator by the leak, I have one behind my couch to keep my living room from smelling like a Tosh hotel room

You don't already have a carbon filter/fan? Yes get one now. You should have set it up before you bought a light. Get a bigger model than you think you need.

get in your tent, or buy a scrubber and blow the smoke into the fan ( I use to do this for a while in an apartment )

hmmm, i always feel suffocationphobic when im in the tent with the thingy shut for negative pressure...i stand in there sometimes to see which vent the air is coming thru mmost prominently, as i only want it to come in thru the bottom 6" duct that comes in from outside, really cold usually, keeps it a nice mid 70's. but i still dont like being in the tent...

although i guess i could toke up in there, and just let the single scrubber do it's job. dont get me wrong, i have a scrubber, it works 100%, but then i have a living room...

i did make an ona airfreshener, it works great, but im not fond of the mens washroom fragrance...and since the grow is in my bedroom, i have to sleep there, fans and lights off at 11, but ona stays on. i cant stand that thing stenching up the bedroom, so it's on a timer that runs in 1/4 day intervals. maybe ill put it by the front door, or in the kitchen which is next to the front door...hmmmm food for thought, as the ona dispenser i have doesnt NEED to be in the bedroom, since the plants smell doesnt even need to be counteracted as theyre in a smell-not tent.. eureka!

still not a big fan of coverups though...maybe ill look into buying another 6" s+p and putting it inline with a AC scrubber, just for the livingarea, as they work so well! what a hassle..

Yeah Ona has a new Professional version that has practically no fragrance, just "Eats" odors (so they say.) There are reviews on IC somewhere.

Ozone, yeah I found this one and really like it, found it on sale from some online place in Arcata for 179, was a steal:

im looking for a tad cheaper than 500$ but id still like to get an ozone generator...i wonder if the local hydro shops would carry one retail.. perhaps ill check tomorrow

that's a pretty cool ona invention, they need one that just eats and doesnt give off fragrance...ill look into switching ona fragrances too, maybe they carry one that isnt so alien/obnoxious smelling...

Lookup ozn-jr it releases 200mg/hr and does 10 minute Intervals on/off
hook it up so it's inside the vent that is pulling air OUT of the room so it removes leftover dirty air.

someone on RIP mentioned, " It works okay.I would get a better one myself." on the ozn jr...

perhaps it only helps in a small area? i have about 700sq feet, which isnt much, but i need better than i would get a better one myself...

why would he lie?

the next step up is a $150 product that requires a bulb to be changed every so often and releases 1100mg/hr.

this amount can be very harmful to humans.. so the choice is yours (for a bedroom grow).. I see a lot of people very happy with gigantic carbon filters. i dug one of my old ones out of the grave and put it in my smoke room and much to my dismay it was still working.. my mistake back in the day was I pushed air through it and didnt suck air in through the scrubber.. lesson learned, and now I won't repeat it. The ozn-jr is kind've like a backup solution for me, so if the carbon scrubber doesnt get it the first time, the ozn-jr will.

Silent Lemon, I suggested this earlier and someone even repped me for it.. others have said the same thing.

What you need is an (additional) carbon scrubber/fan combo, recirculating within the apartment. This will remove any odors caused by escaped smells, smoke, drying plants, going in/out of grow room, etc. Your 1 filter in the tent is doing the lions share of the work, but you need additional coverage.

woot, that is a great idea, an idea ive mentioned before in this thread, but a sound confirmation always makes me feel better.

now, 80$ charcoal filter + 100-200$ fan vs ozone generator for the livingspace... dilemmas

look what i found tonight...i went for a walk outside to do some recon and came back noticing a VERY faint plant smell in the hallway. i muttered something and poked my nose into the doorjam, no smell or draft, then proceeded to the mailslot, i noticed a major draft coming from it, like tons of negative pressure in the hallway and air just spewing from the mailslot... well here's what i found.

picture.php

then i opened it...
picture.php

check out that passive gap in the second mailslot door!

i was thinking a drop box sealed up attached to the door...more thought is needed on execution, but i think it's a good idea keeping it stealthy. last thing i need is a blocked up mailslot and a complaining mailman...

any ideas how to seal that up still letting the mailperson drop mail into it?

ps. im still going to look into smell elimination, but i think this is as valid as any security to address..

I recently put a carbon filter on the intake fan of my computer. BAM instant recirculating carbon filter in my room. I blow my hits at it and they get sucked in...doesn't work 100% but it sure cuts it down alot.

If I'm feeling extra paranoid I use a long tube with the dryersheets...looong tube like 4 feet, a shorter tube never worked good for me. It's also important to change the dryer sheets out every week or so and insert them properly into the tube so they actually filter the smoke rather then the smoke just traveling around them...but I only use that on special occasions like if family or w/e is coming over, and I swear by it.

...also you could smoke in the growroom utilizing those filters maybe?

*edit .. as for the mail slot duct tape a garbage bag or something to the inside so the mail drops into it...or something like that..I guess you have to get the mail out somehow :p ... but I'm sure that will help you figure out a better idea...just make sure someone doesn't come over and be like "WTF is a garbage bag doing duct taped to your door?" think ahead...ppl can tell when you're making shit up on the spot.

oh wow! good idea! i was thinking a small plastic square trash bin from walmart or other, seal up the top with that foam adhesive tape i bought, acting as a gasket, and then id spin some hooks into the door(wood filler later) and hang the box square top around the slot, so they drop into the box, your idea is great though!:woohoo:

yes, im going to start smoking in my tent, or continually smoking outside. i feel with my super close call earlier(see tokers den) im not going to smoke in the immediate vicinity of the front door, so behind a closed grow room door IN the tent, or like i said, outside in the bitter cold.

least it doesnt get -30 here:p go temperate!

I had the Uvonair jr, had the same rating but was too small, and yeah the bulb didn't last more than about 5 months.
