Great choices everyone,a special mention should go to psychedelic guitarists. In particularly 1970 ,alot of instrumental psychedelic albums came out made with the sole premise to be enjoyed by people on acid.

blues was big and few guitarists who played trippy acid guitar blended with blues and sound effects and did it very well include

Mel Brown
Harvey Mandel
Peter Green

Making records for people who were high, what a great idea....

How about Al Green guys? Anybody else dig Motown while they're in another world?

I would like to throw ISAAC HAYES into the discussion. Walk on By, the look of love, Hyperbolicsysquedalymystic, et al.
KRAFTWERK! Too many trippy cuts to name..also, these guys are the "Grandfathers" of Electronica,Techno, and also the "Great Uncles" of Hip Hop
Bjorks Gling-Glo is a Jazz album done in Icelandic. Trippy enough for me.
Type O Negative-Bloody Kisses. If you have seen the album cover it would catch your eye too :) Their SUMMER BREEZE cover I like better than the original...
SLOWDIVE-Souvlaki album.
Hooverphonic-I prefer the earlier works, but you still can enjoy their catalogue stoned..

Tool hands down, the whole AENIMA album for sure. Im sorry guys, but it's pretty hard to find a band as musically talented as TOOL. They are the only band ive never really seen a true cover of. Ive seen Limp Biskit try to cover OPIATE from the album OPIATE. They took a 6 minute song and turned it into 2 and a half minute song LOL. You wont find a better drummer or bassist, and singer all togeather in one band(adam jones is good, but for sure the least musically talented in the band imvho, makes more mistakes in live shows) .

Im sure some of you wont agree, but to all those musicians out there I think will agree.

TOOL is a musicians band for sure, not just for musicians, but I think mostly musicians would be able to understand how intricate there songs are.

This is the second half of the song DIVORCED, you wont find it on any albums, please take a listen, about 2:40 sec in the 3 minute dualing drum solo starts, it goes back and fourth for left to right speaker, craziest f'n drum anything ive ever heard....PLEASE LISTEN!!

Another TOOL song called Reflections, from the Lateralus album

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRVqqyVtEKs&feature=related

All thier shit is pretty I think, except the 10,000 days album. To me 10,000 days seems more commercial, or Radio- friendly.

Let me know what you think.

high,

old skool Goa Trance is very trippy, made to let the mind fly.. it evolved in psy trance, but psy is too monotone and with too much bpm for my like, still trippy....

Electric Universe: One love LP 1996, great album... and there are many more for electronic psy music lovers...

Ozric Tentacles, english psychedelic band.. . Tantric Obstacles, comes to mind but they have a lot of great albums, again for my likes...

regards

for you trippers out there, checkout an experimental album from the late 60's (67 I believe - EDIT actually 69) called "an electric light storm in hell" by white noise.

Its made by the woman who did the original doctor who sound effects and theme tune and was created by her and other bbc sound crew - theres a good write up, here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/pq9x/

trust me, its like being dragged through every emotion in the spectrum in about 35 minutes... even listening to it while high can leave you feeling dazed

Tool is a super talented band which I love deeply, and I certainly agree with the Adam Jones sentiment. Though, for a true superband (though Robert Fripp is their only constant member), check out King Crimson. I believe Tool actually cites them as a reference. They've never had anything but outstanding musicians, many of them coming from the jazz scene.

I can't believe I forgot them in my trippy music list. I would suggest that any fan of progressive rock or jazz check them out. You'll dig it.

Good call on Triad as well. Any of their instrumentals are super trippy, and extremely technical. Watch the weather change.

By the way, whoever gave me rep+ for Dalek (Vex, I think), check out Negro, Necro, Nekros. It's probably my favorite album of theirs. The song Three Rocks Blessed is a godsend.

Also check out Tarnished on Abandoned Language.

Not in any particular order:

ATB- Too much rain (over paradise)

Infected Mushroom’s CD- Vicious Delicious; listened to that CD while driving all through out Israel - tracks 4 and up are good

Johan Sebastian Bach- awesome, I like especially Double violin concerto (genius)

Frederic Chopin- finger twisting good. ; Piano concerto number 21, among many others (another musical genius)

David Bowie- Ashe’s to ashes ( funk to funky, we all know major toms a junky)

Inuyasha- ( not actually a artist, a cartoon that aired in Japan) I like the theme songs : come (Absolute favorite), Kikyo theme, Beautiful memories, my will.

Pink Floyd: some songs are amazing, a lot of their songs are just good, comforting to listen to. The video’s are pretty damn trippy to.

There’s this program called “Hearts of Space” that comes on my classical radio station, Classical trip music. Look it up online if you want. Some of there programs are ideally trippy, kind of like sphongle in a way only waayyy more talented/ well put together (IMO), it is basically classical music with a trippy theme.(sorry sphongle fans)
Sphongle is way to weird for my taste, a whole lot of odd sounds, some songs are ok though I guess. Though I will look up their song : younger brother

It may be out played but I love Led Zeppelin’s : Stairway to heaven, Going to California. I love the lyrics to stairway to heaven, there really appealing:

And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune
then the piper will lead us to reason
and a new day will dawn for those who stand long
and the forests will echo with laughter

Other Great Classical Composer’s of mentally inspiring trip music :

Richard Wagner
Johannes Brahms
Joseph Haydn
Franz Schubert
Igor Stravinsky
Robert Schumann
Felix Mendelssohn
Antonin Dvorak

I could go on and on with great classical composers.
Classical music is by far my favorite, and most mentally stimulating .
Beside’s all the classical music, I highly suggest looking up Inuyasha’s song “Come“. It’s truly unique, has a really good feel to it.

*I'm a stoner, I forget -wait, what?*

Lost Highway Soundtrack. David Bowie's I'm DERANGED(edit/reprise) has been on constant rotation on the ipod for some time now..

The Pink Floyd PULSE DVD. The Shine on you crazy diamond performance/vid gets me every time..It reminds me of running and riding my bike through the hills of UC Santa Cruz..But we all know how PF has touched us all in some sort of way.

Pink Martini has a few cuts that are trippy...
