  • Lineage: T-Dub (Twenty20 Trainwreck) X Trainwreck (Arcata Cut)

what is T-Dub?
how does it differ from arcata cut?
I think it was their original Trainwreck version. Then they crossed it with an Arcata cut recently. I grew out both the Arcata x t-dub and the super wreck. The super wreck was a megahunt in Michigan with like 1500 plants of the Arcata t-dub. They both have that piney lime menthol lemongrass smell and flavor. Though it seemed a couple of the super wrecks had a tinge of cat pissy skunk spray to them. I've got 2 keepers of each and I'll be growing them outdoors at 45th in Michigan. The plants structure was all over the place though. Some short some tall. Some flopped some didn't. Unfortunately the best terp ones were not the biggest ones. But that always seems to be the case. The terps were pretty uniform though. All sharp lime lemongrass menthol pine.

I may order another batch from them and do another pheno hunt to see if I can improve on my keepers. Definitely best old school terps I've seen since the 90s.

finish this out and restart ..
Have you ever tried Dr Zymes? That stuff works pretty damn well on pm. I use it for my outdoor plants, here in Michigan some years pm is just hard to avoid. But that stuff, used at highest concentration will melt the pm (and most pests) right off the plant. You can literally watch it fizz and drip off, then rinse again with Dr Zyme and let it dry. It leaves no residue.
Thankfully my indoor rarely gets any pm...

One more thing I'd like to add. On the twenty20s I'm not getting any of that body odor funk or dead whale smell that I've read so many times on terp descriptions. Maybe that's a good thing. Straight up lemongrass lime menthol pine with a tinge of cat piss on a couple phenos. Hope this helps.

I may send him cash with priority mail envelope and tracking. I've done it with hazeman and everything was good. He's got some good looking gear. That skunk wreck looks pretty Interesting too. He says if I send cash he'll kick in a freebee pack. I may go that route.
I've sent cash through the mail more times than I can count. I always got my seeds, except for one pack of some NL from AKBB that some rando was selling on IG a few years ago. That's the one and only time I have been burned, out of hundreds of times sending cash in the mail. Just send it priority like you said, no problem man.

No, you WANT that funk man. It's what makes it so special, IMO. I haven't had any Wreck in probably 15 years now, but you need the funk. Casey Jones is what lead me to seek it out originally. I loved that plant so much, I tried to seek out all of the parent lines. I was never able to source the Oriental Express though...

Right. Don't get me wrong the stuff is funky just not like a Romulan funk. Now Romulan had a body odor dirty laundry funk to it. But this twenty20 has a nice ammonia funk to it. But ya I would like to try the Canna or Jaws Trainwreck.

Have you ever used Dr. Zymes while in flower?

I typically use sulfur outdoors for pm, septoria etc. in veg, but in flower have used citric acid granules in a water solution. Citric acid is also the active ingredient in Dr. Zymes. Not sure if there's anything else in Dr. Zymes, (msds says "proprietary blend") but citric acid is fairly inexpensive on-line and works pretty well. Just have to apply it regularly or after rain washes it off etc.

ya my issues is not killing PM it trying to stop it from ever coming alive.

sure sulfur works great on plants that are still in veg, how ever we all know once you get into flower its never a good idea to use sulfur. this time it hit me at day probably 46-47 and i first saw it on day 50 so ya there was nothing really to be done, cant grow it out the bud would be un smokable cant sulfur spray it why because it would become un smokable. pretty simple what needs to be done. last time i chopped and threw the entire run out at day 58.

what i want is to not have to use any of those products i would like to stop it before it even starts, im going with a pure crop 1 spray this time all through veg and two maybe three weeks into flower "MAYBE" on the flowering comment.

we shall see ..

So what about the hermie flowers. The true Arcata always hermies. Not the kind of hermies that crescent moon flowers late Into budding but the flower at crotch of bud site early on. The kind that you only get a handful of seeds out of a plant. Every plant is female. Those hermies are great for outdoor growing. No sexing required. It should be easy to stress the clone to make it hermies to get seeds I would think? The Trainwreck I remember from the 90s always had a few seeds in it

Yes, that is why I mentioned it. You can use it as you harvest, if you want to. It has a citric acid base (not base as in pH base), and the other active ingredient is a byproduct of fermentation. It really does leave no residue, at all. Sufur still is the best, but you can't use that once flowers set...

Agreed, sulfur is hard to beat, but never in flower or soon after using oil-based sprays in veg.

I skimmed the MSDS for Dr, Zymes but the fermentation info. is not detailed..."proprietary". I wonder if it's a lactose (milk) based thing? Recent years I've begun experimenting with citric acid and a bit of milk but don't have the background to know if I'm engaging in "bro science".

A competitor product to Dr. Zymes, Growers Ally, uses lactose in their mix, which got me thinking.

I sometimes use essential oils mixed with citric acid and am under the impression thyme oil in that mix has helped me keep any p.m. issues from surfacing. I've used it in flower and haven't seen, tasted or had any reports of residue related issues. Side benefit is bugs don't like it either. Good luck with the pure crop.

Anyhow, going to pop 4 more Trainwreck seeds this week to see if any will make the team for this years backyard adventures. 1 more 20/20 Superwreck and 3 generic white label Trainwrecks that did alright last year as far as resistance and effect. First time trying the Superwreck.

The white labels were smallish plants last year though, I always thought Trainwreck had possibilities of getting large outdoors? Have you grown any of yours outdoors?

I don't know. But it works. It also kills pests fairly reliably. I started using it as my IPM for indoor, but saw people using it to "wash" their outdoor harvests so started playing with it outside. It's not going to work like a systemic, but if applied every few days does a good job keeping them clean. Some years outside, I just have to use it during certain stretches of weather. Growing in Michigan has some challenges.

Personally, I won't use any oil products on my herb once flowers set. Dr Zyme is the most aggressive stuff I will use once flowering hits.
