The U.S. bond rating history, starting with the emergence of credit rating agencies in the early 20th century, saw the U.S. consistently hold the highest "AAA" rating until a downgrade by Standard & Poor's in August 2011. Fitch Ratings also downgraded the U.S. credit rating to AA+ in August 2023.

the problem i see is that there is INCREDIBLE wealth disparity, it's more informative (imo) to look at individual regions, states, even counties... how many people in appalachia don't even have potable water?
