The root of the increased missile launches has been the unmitigated illegal genocide going on in Gaza.... and both the US and the Brits know this. But pretend to be naive to Israel's propaganda and lies and choose to spin it.
it's not just the Israeli associated ships being targeted. 18 different nations are now shipping around southern tip of Africa instead of going through the Red Sea & the Suez canal because of missile/drone/boat attacks. the industrialized world won't pay 10 days extra fuel/travel time without fighting back. gonna be interesting (to put it mildly) to see what happens over the oil tanker Iran seized yesterday.

The tanker was seized with a court order.

As long as Israel continues to violate international law with impunity in their seeking genocide for Palestine and creating outrageous levels of inhumanity, the region will continue to grow in solidarity, and shipping into and out of Israel (among lesser targeted routes and entities) will continue to be targeted.

When folks throw stones, some of them are somewhat surprisingly stunned that turn-about is fair play.

i'm wondering exactly WHERE the ship was when seized. if in Omani waters, they would have needed an order from a court in THAT country. otherwise, it's pretty much piracy, which is prob why they wore unmarked uniforms and covered the security cameras on board as well as turning off the ships locator beacon. if in international waters , the law is murkier on enforcing court orders.

The US extends control out to 200 miles off shore while typically permitting (as though we have that authority) others to 12 miles.

The double-standards are coming into a sunset period I think. 80+ percent of shipping into and out of Israel was having to be re-routed as of over a month ago.

Being an asshole can become expensive at some point.

we've "taken action" a hell of a lot further off the coasts than that before. acting as the worlds "police" (with no actual legal authority that i'm aware of) has seen us boarding ships in international waters all over the planet. doesn't matter where the ship is from, nor where it's actually going, they'll board it/search it and claim that it was US bound or whatever frivolous claim seems to fit the situation.

Sometimes it might take decades or even centuries, but eventually hypocrisy and hubris are ultimate downfalls. Just ask a Roman. :)

it's not the shipping into/out of Israel that is getting the Houthis in Yemen hammered. it's the nearly indiscriminate launching at countries vessels that have no dog in the fight. i'm all for the US Navy shooting down missiles/drones and trying to prevent a larger war...Houthis/Iran seem to have the same thought processes that the GOP does..."if i can't have my way, i'll fuck the game up for everyone! you'll be sorry..."

Yemen has put their foot down on any vessels whose flags represent membership to nations that are friendly or supportive to what's being perpetrated in Gaza, and if you look at Biden's somewhat reduced list of the 'coalition of the willing' (while reduced in number when compared to GW's illegal war and similar coalition) there's more than a few countries listed.

Never hold your head up above the fox hole when there's a firefight ensuing.

Meanwhile Biden has authorized US military aircraft to drop bombs on Yemen without Congressional approval, and there is currently a bipartisan coalition in Congress drawing critical attention to JUST that.
