BANK OF AMERICA MEMO, REVEALED: “WE HOPE” CONDITIONS FOR AMERICAN WORKERS WILL GET WORSE

The memo, a “Mid-year review” from June 17, was written by Ethan Harris, the head of global economics research for the corporation’s investment banking arm, Bank of America Securities. Its specific aspiration: “By the end of next year, we hope the ratio of job openings to unemployed is down to the more normal highs of the last business cycle.”

problem being that squeaky-clean citizens are rare, if not non-existent. years back, most respected news media understood boundaries & did not cross them. now, if you shit the bed once as a kid, or did something repulsive as a teen, it will be dug up & paraded in front of the world as evidence that you are not "worthy"...and our 24 hour news cycle guarantees that everyone WILL see it. fuck, Mother Teresa could not get nominated, she's bound to have had moments of weakness & confessed doubts. who hasn't? so, we are left voting for incompetent corporate stooges & corrupt publicity whores that know little more than how to go along to get ahead. in this atmosphere of sleaze, who would subject their family to the deluge of vitriol that would rain down? whose family would stand there and take it? whose marriage could withstand it? nobody that i know...
As I think about it, my wife had that to deal with to an extent.
She was fourth from the top in the health dept for LA .
At the time we got together, she was about five years away from being able to run the health dept of one of the local cities.
Once one is the head of a local health dept, life becomes political pretty quickly.
For me it would entail making nice at various functions a few times a year.
She was honest with me from the start, and I was fully supportive of her goals.
I would expect that is how it would be for others as well.

all anti-gunners know that absent a real and present danger (whether real or constructed) most citizens agree with how the 2nd amendment is interpreted. if, as FBI stats make clear, violent crime has been dropping for years, fears drop, attention wanes. good news sells like shit for media. no outrage, low sales, lower profit and market share. gotta keep SOMETHING in the headlines to hold their attention. seemingly random (or not) "mass" shootings fit the bill because nobody likes the idea of getting shot while at work, home, or just generally out fucking around stoned to the gills. understandably so, too. but, bad news sells. the way media defines "mass" kinda irks me, picking a number of victims as an arbitrary cut-off. i would exclude family disputes when counting noses, and find a realistic age (THIS will be tough) to use when defining "children" as a class of victims.

Salaries are higher in the US than in Canada. The average annual salary in the US is USD56,630, but that of Canada is USD43,867. But this isn’t a general thing. The lower salaries in Canada are due to factors such as higher operating costs, demand and supply, cost of living, and weak VC culture.

Go along to get along is what put us in this position.
The average American pays five thousand dollars more a year than does the population of Canada, or Europe, due to monopoly.
Half of the major corporations here pay no taxes at all.
Absent responsible government we have no recourse or remedy for that, and it will get worse.
We must have good people step up and serve not just in the military, but politically as well.
Society prevents us from each getting our own way. There are concessions. We allow others to have rights which often clash with our own.

Using a football metaphor ...

Normally we might want to get help from the Federal government ... like throwing a football to a wide receiver.

But that wide receiver is not available ... for a myriad of reasons.

Same for the state. In the case of the Oregon gov., you MIGHT have a chance if you tell them you are LGBT & being discriminate against. (actually, I might try that).

But if she says she wants to hear from people about wildfire prevention, and you write to tell her what you & 2 nearby neighbors are doing that is REAL - and WORKS ... no answer. Even though you didn't use swear words, or ask her what kind of pot she likes. :)

So the last Wide Receiver is ... the County.

But those assholes ONLY work for established business interests - the same people you might be asking for help with.

ALL the people that are supposed to help you, have Not My Job itis.

That pretty much makes us all Loners.

No wide receivers to "throw the ball to."

And so OF COURSE people HATE the Government - State, Federal, and local.

It takes our money, it coerces us - and then it does nothing about anything.

Today we have a combination of government coerciveness, Not-My-Job-itis, and Taxation - that I have never witnessed.

They are engaged in taxation without representation, AND coercion.

Or, to put it another way, it's like 1776, and the local, state, and federal governments are the British Troops.

EXCEPT that together they are 100 or 1000 times more coercive than the British troops EVER dared.

Americans are so PROUD that "yes we did the right thing to scare those Brits away" in 1776. Americans are VERY righteous about that.

And so, People "Act Out".

I would like to find out why "Trennon Ray Smith" tried to start a forest fire on Monday, about 25 miles Northwest.

You may have read about it, 3 other people tied him to a tree and called the cops.

Though his behavior was anti-social, my guess is that his "Beef" was legitimate.

That most people who "act out" - e.g. the Highland Park Shooter - have legitimate beefs.

But their beefs are disconnected from their anti-social acts. i.e. the people they shoot are usually, not the people that hurt them.

"On Monday a Bureau of Land Management employee reported that a man was walking down a road igniting vegetation fires in a remote area about 25 miles northwest of Grants Pass, Oregon."

several countries listed on there with, to me anyway, surprising spots on the scale given their history of success RE students in advanced academia. i gotta admit though, that salaries may or may not reflect level of students absorption/retention of subjects. the tax bite on teachers , i bet, would be interesting to look at comparatively for all of those listed.

With fewer college graduates, demand goes up for qualified teachers. Wages go up accordingly.
One would be wise to get educated in the U.S. work in Canada, and retire in Mexico.

"arsonist tied to tree after falling down". LOL! too bad there weren't a couple flights of stairs close by...he could have fallen even MORE. surprised he was not shot for "resisting arrest"...or maybe fall out the back door of LEOs vehicle like happened to the young lady the other day? must have been white. that is allegedly much safer.
