Sorry to hear that. Hope you and yours are able to stay as safe as possible.
Am seeing a lot of the younger people here act as if it is over, which leads to anticipate higher number than we have seen in the past.
Our media has seldom served the public worse or it's owners better.

It’s not the media.
Yes, of course it is the media - it has always been the media .
The media has long been controlled by those involved with intel.
The New York Times and Washington Post have long standing
history of cooperation and subservience to the CIA.
A similar relationship does exist between the BBC and MI5.
Here you go from a top notch reporter you may be familiar with"

Remember the name Metabiota, we are going to be hearing a lot more about this outfit.

. . . . A mind-boggling ‘discovery’ that Russian forces in Ukraine stumbled upon is the use of numbered birds by the Pentagon-funded labs. . . . On the basis of this data, groups of migratory birds are caught, digitized and capsules of germs are attached to them that carry a chip to be controlled through computers. . . . During the long flight of the birds that have been digitized in the Pentagon bio-labs, their movement is monitored step by step by means of satellites and the exact locations are determined. . . . During the long flight of the birds that have been digitized in the Pentagon bio-labs, their movement is monitored step by step by means of satellites and the exact locations are determined. . . . The idea is that if the Biden Administration (or the CIA) has a requirement to inflict harm on, say, Russia or China (or India for that matter), the chip is destroyed when the bird is in their skies. Plainly put, kill the bird carrying the epidemic. . . . once the ‘digitized’ bird is killed and the capsule of germs it carries is released, the disease spreads in the ‘X’ or ‘Y’ country. It becomes a highly cost-effective method of harming an enemy country without any need of war or coup d’état or color revolution. The Russians have made the shocking claim that they are actually in possession of such migratory birds digitized in the Pentagon’s bio-labs. . . .”

This stuff dates back to the Japanese attack on China, at the onset of WWII. There were things done there that were as horrendous as
anything done in WWII, and that does include the Nazi atrocities. We were never really told of them, but the intel people were aware of it,
and some of them were very interested in it.
Fast forward to the closing of Fort Detrick, and I will leave you with :

Enjoy them a great deal myself, was a disappointment to learn that they along with apples (am a sucker for apple butter) are two of the crops which get the heaviest dosing of pesticides.
They retain it in their peelings. I thought they got similar amounts but acted as accumulators for pesticides/insecticides in the peel.

Spinach is another that scores as an accumulator where nasties are concerned.

And even if buying organic, it's not always a guarantee. We used to receive (constant) emails (hence, the 'used to') from an environmental group that, among other issues, dealt heavily with glyphosate/Round-Up. In analyzing the samples of rolled oats/oats, even many that were labeled as 'organic' had traces of the stuff in it.

I've got a neighbor up the hill from me who grows commercial peonies on a lot he bought for that purpose. He uses the shit out of Round-Up from what I understand, and I'm down-hill form him, attempting mostly organic gardens in raised beds made from spruce poles, as well as one spud field. One of those cases where 'good fences' STILL doesn't necessarily equate to 'good neighbors'.

At times a re-write of the old Steelers Wheel tune, perhaps along the lines of red neck buffoons to the left of me, and the partisan blind to the right, here I am, stuck on a deserted Island with you...." or something like that. (*I think I just ironically transposed the affiliations there, but maybe it actually works better).

The Bradcast, the radio version of the Bradblog.com uses it as his opening music. Tracks election malfeasance.

i made some 'shine from a big bag of ripe pawpaws last fall. have run across wine from the fruit, could find no info on moonshine. next time i try it, i'll remove the skin from the fruit to try to moderate the residual flavor. :chin:

do you have access to any wild strawberries? they have much more flavor than the tame ones IMO. there WAS a huge field of them in state park nearby, but they plowed it up & planted grass for soccer fields...:puppydoge

there are tame cultivars available for sale these days. picking & eating the wild ones is a roll of the dice, as some trees have quite bitter fruit. George Washington and other notables made ice cream, custards etc from the sweeter ones available.
