I hate the popularity of the ‘bootstraps’ meme, because it’s nonsense - an impossibility: its origins are in the Adventures of Baron Munchausen, a tale from a famous fictional fabulist....

That's a great movie but that saying is much older than that. Its been referenced in literature since at least the early 19th century. Anyway, In the Adventures of Baron Munchausen, he lifts himself and his trusty steed up by his ponytail to avoid drowning. It should be standard technique for all lifeguards.

Anyway, yes, the phase is utter nonsense. The worst part is that when we have pulled off something akin to miracles to help ourselves out of our struggles, people still give us crap and sometimes even actively sabotage it. The simple fact is that in America, you're supposed to know your place and stay in it. People largely have no clue how programmed they are to think in terms of social class, and many don't truly understand the stratification of society. Ask most poor people what class they are in and they'll tell you "middle", because being among the poor is considered shameful in our society.

We’re fighting traitors for control of the levers of power: I don’t have to think well of the Dems to realize that purity pouts are what got us into this.

I hear what you’re saying, I basically agree with you, but that’s beside the point - which is that the GOP to an individual is committed to the replacement of our constitution with one that leaves the wealthy as the only ones who can vote, the only ones who can hold office, the only citizens, while the rest of us can make out or die.

You can hate the Dems all you like: the fact that they won as many state elections as they did this year sets back GOP efforts to call a constitutional convention, approve the new one in GOP state legislatures, and and signed immediately by Republican governors. Huge piles of the stuff go to the trash constantly. This of course cannot track what goes on with partially eaten meals or anything that happens to food at home. Nor the fact that most of them are over-eating three times what is needed. Most obese people are actually starving, because they are unable to properly process food, especially since most of it is built according to the science of addiction making it mostly worthless anyway. Same concept as most video games, casinos, etc.

What's good for the casino is good for the transportation company, which is good for the oil man, and so on. We sell addiction and dependence, and especially state dependence. Insurance companies dictate most of the rules.

It's a terrible state of affairs which most of the rest of the world is getting wise to. Here, I am simply hoping most of the crony circle will die off. Best I can say is that with the riddance of Rock-a-fella, his heirs are not very interested in being iron fists of his monopoly game. As the world kicks out the petro dollar, this will also hurt their cause. I would like to live to see the Anglo-American system bite the pavement.
