Provided you dont plan on potting up in size at any time, i would switcheroo. If you do want to pot-up, i would do that first, let em settle in for a cuppla days then switch. Cheers and happy growing.

no need to transplant, its Coco. i kinda wish they were in 2gal instead. next run, 2gals, more plants. gotta get this perpetual going going.

Yeah, did a perpetual for 2 years with rolling trays of ebb and flow. Pull the mature tray out one end, insert the new tray in the other end and roll em all down. Sweet little system but requires mono cropping to ensure even ripening for timing reasons. 8 trays, 8 weeks variety, 1 tray per week perpetually. good times...

2 weeks later, week 1 flower.

2 weeks later, week 1 flower.

i decided to veg them a week more (5 weeks total from clone) and then flipped :)

Play around with your flower times, there is no right answer with when to flower. For me, I have no idea how long any of my plants veg, they flower when I feel they are ready....or when schedules demand it.

You can run 12/12 from seed or veg for 16 weeks then flower, whatever works easiest for you and you'll eventually find that 'sweet spot' for you grow with how big you want plants to veg for an 'ideal' flowering plant. Get yourself a baseline for what you want and makes planning for upcoming clones/timing of perpetual growing easier.

thanks

thanks

They look nice and even. If you have enough height that other week of veg will pay off. Nice looking grow!

thanks a lot!

i decided to flip when they were about half as big as i want them, tent is only 5' so with clearance, pots, and hood taking up 3/5 of the vertical space..... i'll be happy with 2' tall plants :) they diddnt stretch like i thought they would, but, its only been a week.

i know its mostly genetic, but how much and quick do plants stretch? on avg. most people say they will double, but..... every situation is diff.

All pretty basic and common stuff, you can help control stretch in many ways...the temp method works if you can accurately control it in your room...fimming and scrog are my main methods.

I agree, always easier to control the smaller girls,,,than the big monster plants that get away from you...theres no stopping them once they get out of control in growth, bigger doesn't mean more :)

haha yes! them bitches got flipped. im glad everyone pretty much agrees to the flip now rather than later. i was having a hard time deciding. "should i stay or should i go" story of my life. and the waiting already LOL. its killin me :) gave them an extra week for good measure, as they say, and to think ill have to wait at least two more months on this ride? i love it. definitely not going to try anything fancy just going to keep doing what ive been doing. ive got them pretty well topped and bent so far, going to leave them be. hopefully i set them in the right spot to do what they do best! thanks for the encouragement and for following along a bit. First Flowers are so Fun to For Me to See :)

afterthought: any exp. with adding kelp (tea? extract?) to coco DTW? i also have KoolBloom, but the numbers kind of scare me bwana yr right less is more, in so many cases. thanks for all the feedback guys

bwana, howd you pick that name? i was gonna start a surf band called bwana devil way back and i never did.

found this last night:

http://www.cannabis.info/us/abc/30003816-dont-sweat-the-stretch

what do you guys think? seems solid. i found it fascinating. you can regulate plants with temperature and other nifty tactics. way more than i thought.

Great article Chrono, thanks muchly. VPD and DIF manipulation are the "tools of trade" for commercial greenhouse flower and vege growers and im sure large scale medicine growers use them also. All these bits of knowledge add up in your tool box and help you to produce great crops. Not sure if the article stressed it, but having a small or neg DIF only works if overall average temps are reduced also. No good running 85F at night and 80F during the day, because mean temp is still too high and unless light intensity is huge, they will stretch. Better to have 72F at night and 68F during the day for short plant steering to be effective. Cant stress enough the need to keep it simple to begin with though.
Glad to read you bit the bullet and switched those babies, they look beautifully even across the canopy, have great lat development and a good healthy color. Well done dude, if this is your first dance, you have made a great start. Look forward to progress pics. Cheers.

growaway,
thanks for pointing that out about overall average temps. i either missed that or they diddnt mention it. thanks alot for the word of encouragement! thanks alot! it helps just as much as the advice and knowledge! this is my first real try, other than bag seed and DIRT LOL. ive had some good coaching from a few close friends as well as all the people here. otherwise.....
cant wait to see what y'all do too. keep the ideas flowing. keep it growing.
-Cheers
