..

What the fuck more do we want? Come to think of it, WTF was the OP bitching about? LMAO What more could you want from a site? LOL

If you were a contributing member here 7-10 years ago you would know that what we had back then was far better than the way it is today, imho.

personally i don't think that having the OLD site as an archive that cannot be added to but can be searched for information but the NEW site can be for new info over time the 2 will blend and become one
not sure if that's possible or efficient...

I've been here 5 years and never had any software related problems.... curious what is bothering people so much. It's nice not to have pop-ups and adds everywhere. I came on here never having sprouted a seed and now I can hold intelligent conversations with professional growers. So hopefully whatever is in the works doesn't change things too much in the name of luring in some Instagram all-stars.

I suggest looking at the website PeakProsperity.com, partially because of the substantial overlap in skill-sets between their members and ICMag members.

I do notice that Peak Prosperity has a handy way of embedding Youtube videos, which I've not seen done here.

It's one forum I've seen recently that reminded me of ICMag.

They used to be all paid members. They recently made the very wise decision to make forum participation free (though I could have my facts wrong about when that change was made.)

Chris Martenson is sort of like a Corporate Yuppie version of Gypsy - and then he dropped out of corporate America about 10 years ago.

The emphasis at Peak Prosperity is "permaculture" (yuppie term for what ICMag members have been doing for a LOOONG time).

I would also describe it as a meritocracy. Martenson has a pH.D. in some science discipline, but if you know your stuff - as so many ICMag members do - people will listen & thank you.

Besides, my guess is, 1/4 to 1/2 the PeakProsperity members smoke pot anywayl.

This forum is screwed down really tight. The gallery is very full featured but there is no uploading of code or html or embedded anything. It would be nice to have that. I wanted to share the code for my Raspberry Pi a while back but the lack of code tags here made it more difficult than it was worth.

BUT..... and there's always a BUT. LOL

If you open up the features, you're also opening up potential exploits. I allow embedded code on all my forums but, they are all small and private. And, I know everyone there. I don't think I would be comfortable allowing HTML or embedded code in a forum with this much traffic. Maybe I'm just a pussy. LOL

I have hacked and been hacked so many times I can't count them all. Usually, it's more in fun that anything. However, I have lost years of research and information to hackers and bots and when that happens, it really sucks. LOL

Things that suck big time about forums.....

Slow load. Nothing worse. This place screams

Ad content in the middle of threads. That really sucks. I don't mind a header banner but some forums use that shit that has ads right in the middle of threads. That's a bit more than just annoying. LOL

Um, let's see. What else. If anything, it might be cool if we had code tags. I'm probably the only one who would use them. LOL

I don't know. I can't think of much. I'm not much on it but chat boxes are a big hit on many forums.

Back in the day when you went to the forums page, you could see all the forums, as well as the sub forums listed, and you could also see latest posts in each forum, who made the post, and when. You could also easily see the mods for each subforum.

Maybe we could feature the pic of the month on the front page of the forums, and actually change it monthly instead of twice a year?

And how about some view options? I mean i love the green globe and leaf pattern background for years and years but its nice to be able to change up and personalize the view a bit as well, no?

sounds like you are talking skins and more constant upgrades and not achange of the basic forum software....

i still want to chekc out fuck combustion to see the differences, for some reason i thought FC was vbull also

That's probably a pretty reasonable idea. Offering 2 or 3 skins isn't a giant upgrade or security problem. And, it offers people, (what appears to be) a whole new look.

Personally (and we all have that personal opinion, don't we? LOL) I like the default vBull format. I think MarijuanaPassion has one of the most pleasant and 'easy to view' forums.

I just checked out the fuckcombustion site and I don't go in for that dark look. And, it looks like it's great for mobile but it wastes half my screen with filler.

Funny, I just had several security (certificate) issues logging in here. Wish this thread had never started. It jinxed me. LOL

I like it just fine the way it is. Of course I have no idea how people leave a comment after liking a post is kind of a cool feature, I just don't know how to use it.

I think it's better than Rollitup which wasn't always the case way back nobody got banned. While way back on ICmag many people got banned. I don't really like the set up on Jorge Cervantes's forum. Mr. Nice forum was great back when Nevil was posting, wish he would come here but seems Sam The Skunkman really hates him don't really like Shantibaba either I really did love the Mr. Nice forum it's still okay today but not enough people and of course too many people stick up for his seed company. I do like Shantibaba's work but he could do much more, CBD Crew seems to be all he's worried about now which was cool but how many CBD lines are needed? I tried one CBD line and even the people who have legit medical needs preferred his high THC lines.

Of course CBD Crew isn't bad just think they would be better off working THCV and stuff like others are playing with. But still he doesn't have enough traffic these days.

Been on a few other forums but overall ICMag seems the best these days IMO. Not sure if an update would help or hurt works just fine now.

Really my biggest concern is the ability to remain anonymous, really why I never posted pictures on forums because I don't know if DEA is lurking, the stories about Sam worry me a little but he does have good knowledge about breeding of course I know a good amount about breeding really my biggest hobby, I've thought about selling seeds but at the same time the patent crews can possibly steal my work and patent my work. Might happen might not just one of my biggest concerns about selling seeds and I know I'm not alone we've all seen what happened to Blueberry of course I would sell for cheaper so rip offs wouldn't bother too much but my work is good enough to get rebranded by well known companies IMO. Happens all the time even to this day.

It's the DEA's job to WATCH and arrest the consumers of drugs not approved by Pfizer, and their sick American biotech colleagues.

OF COURSE the DEA watches ICMag - why I won't say, for I have no desire to encourage the hard-working ladies and gentlemen who enforce the attempted monopolies of America's Mammon worshipping Big Pharma.

They don't want you smoking pot, they want you taking Neurontin and Prozac successors !

Google could Croak (and good riddance), and ICMag would still be here.

The DEA might have a big budget, but it's not infinite. They have to read ICMag - it's where the information is ... what was that Willie Sutton said ?

Don't forget Operation Green Merchant, October 26, 1989.

In the months earlier, Bush 41 was in Colombia, scolding the Colombian president for allowing Cocaine to enter the US from suppliers not within the CIA fold.

The Colombian president responded by pointing out that the US allowed "all that pot growing in Northern California".

Next thing you know, Bush 41 is violating the Posse Comitatus act, and American troops are rappelling from US military helicopters, into Humboldt and Mendocino.

Magazines like Sinsemilla Tips, published by a true Freedom Fighter named Tom Alexander, documented the carnage, before being shut down themselves. There were interviews with young people, who might be caricatured as "hippie flowergirls", who watched it go down.

Part of the incident was the sub-poena-ing of UPS records, and the attack on grow suppliers and their customers.

Anybody who visited a grow supply store in November or December 1989 could FEEL the effects of Green Merchant.

And then, things quieted down. 7 years later Prop 215 passed.

But when the US government gets a bug up its ass, they are phenomenally un-pleasant ... just ask the health food stores that sell - or sold - raw milk, which as we all know is more dangerous than ******* and ***** combined /sarc.

I think it's partially an "Emperor wears no Clothes" situation, they want to appear relevant, which is a pre-condition for receiving that federal salary. So they have to pretend that the federal laws have merit.

My guess is, there's more than one federal agent who unwinds with a little wi-fi or GSC or perhaps even some Classic Romulan, at the end of their slightly confusing workday.

I liked it better when it was like this, it made it easier to quickly find the specific forum you were looking for
