Thrips killing with CO2... tobacco juice

Hey..
Gotta lil problem... some pests (thrips afaik) came to visit me and I dont have any room for them... what a shame.. i decided to kill em off somewhow in non-toxic way... .. just on a couple of leafs ..not much luckaly i noticed it relativley early....

I raised CO2 to 10.000PPM for 1hour (next time ill do 2h) and Ill repeat that every 3 days or so... IS THIS GOING TO BE EFFECTIVE? Anyone has any experience with co2 killing?

Next choice is tobacco juice... anyone tried it?

Thanks to all

I haven't tried it but the co2 should do the trick. Are you stopping the ventilation when you increase the co2?
Safer brand Insect Killing Soap is suppose to be effective on these. Under $10 at the hydro shop. You have to mist the entire plant generously since they hide under the leaves and stuff. Will require 2-3 applications but it should work.
With Co2 and the spray you should have it covered.

i just blend jalapenos in a blender and and strain then add a touch of dish soap.

Sounds too acidic to spray cannabis plants with safely. Just an honest opinion

Imo co2 doses and cig juice isnt going to do the job on an established thrip colony. Theyre in the soil and the plant. You need something strong and apply it more than once.

Monterey Garden Insect spray, active ingredient....spinosad.Spray both sides of leaves
and your topsoil, bye bye thrips, gone none zero.

Like I said on another thread, had those little bastards for 3yrs straight, tried everything, they just kept coming and coming, until spinosad killed them all.Great stuff.

I dont know how big everyone is on chems (including myself)...

but what about trying some no pest strips...

ive used it for dark winged gnats and spider mites... worked perfect...

not sure if they will work for that bug you got there son, but who knows....

this is from the product info on Hot Shot's (the manufacturer) website:

"Advanced technology kills flying AND crawling insects with an odorless vapor"

anyways, i am currently using them now actually... if anyone knows anything negative about them let me know, because right now i think they work great...my body might think otherwise?

Co2 showed partial success... i will prolly go with overdriving co2 controler that maxes at 10kppm to reach something like 15kppm for more than one hour.... i have some basic biology knowledge and they should not live with so much co2 in the air or AL GORE with his ipcc friends is wrong.

Verite.... you are right about " You need something strong and apply it more than once." ... it just has to be naturalis....

wayne: That US product... im in eu.. no way getting these here or any kind of smoke bomb that are popular now i see...

MasterBudGrower: have you tried that with jalapenos and how much do i need them to make a gallon of 'poison'...

Kr@kEn: yes stoppin the ventilation of cooltubes but fans inside the grow stay on to spread co2 as evenly as possible
I am not sure its the acid in the jalapenos that killes them eh? Doest jalapenos contain suphur (long shot)

COUNT-DE-MONET: US only product :(

Yup Co2 will do the job if it's concentrated enough. Problem with that is sealing everything up while you do it and making sure the Co2 isn't lost. Just keep in mind that Co2 likes to drop to the floor with the cool air and oxygen likes to rise with the warm air.

You should consider getting beneficial parasitic nematodes for this. The thrips go down into your medium to pupate. The nematodes will wipe them out. Obviously the nematodes need oxygen though. So maybe order the nematodes and continue the co2 poisoning until they arrive.

Steinernema (Steinernematidae) nematodes and Heterorhabditis nematodes are what you need. ;)

I'm sure you can find a source of them that will ship to you.
