i just need to let this all out.

i'm really sick of america.

i'm so sick of our society. call it babylon society, I don't know. In fact, I never really knew what that meant until recently. But under weed, and just sober, I see what it means.

there are so many phucked up things going on in this world.

i never watch tv. i stopped years and years ago. recently my living situation has changed, and i've watched tv with someone i live with once or twice.

pure chaos. the first thing she turns on in the morning is some sorta financial/political stuff. to me it feels like such chaotic drama. the vibes coming out of that box suck and i don't need them.

i watched a youtube video, of some tv show. I feel like some of these people were close to my age, but I felt like I was a different species. they were all dressed so pretty...the boy shaven... all ties... blah blah blah...some news television show.

We give kids meth salts. We drive hummers while our boys are dying in the middle east. we outlaw weed and look down on tobacco, while we gorge ourselves on coffee that slaves picked.

we feel the need to apply a razor to our jaw every damn day. we feel the need to dress like every other damn person every day. to wear a peice of cloth around our necks, over a expensive ironed shirt. with a coat even. shiny shoes. we go through so much just for what?

what are we trying to prove.

we build new freeways, and on the opening day when they let the barrier down, get an orgasm for being able to burn even more oil for nothing.

we make a joke out of people that are trying to help the environment. like its funny or something.

everyone is in such competition. we tint our windows so people can't see our angry faces on the road. we wear big ass sunglasses to hide from our fellow citizens. we drive huge trucks...then lift these huge trucks even HIGHER... to make them as evil and big as humanely possible... and dont' CARE the amount of fear we invoke in other people... or the amount of fear we invoke when passing some dude trying to bike instead of drive to work... all that is seperating him from that killing monster is a white line on the pavement.

instead we just all buy huge trucks so we don't feel intimidated. but no one realizes that its all pointless to begin with.

we are fucked up.

people are mean. we feel its some right to be able to be a bitch to some guy behind the counter. we feel its our right to bitch and whine on the phone to a customer service representative, just because they are a customer service representative.

we are not open anymore. we are closed.

our kids spend all day inside. they intuitively understand that the natural world is evaporating. why go outside to play hockey in the street, when huge suv's will come hurling by at any moment, sending reverberations of deep sound and fear into their soft bodies.

inside is safer. the digital world is safer. at least you can explore endless maps and digital landscapes... and dream that maybe at one time the world offered this in real life.

kids don't play in nature anymore.

we work so hard and play little. we look down on drugs. we look down on marijuana. we make things so hard for ourselves. spending taxpayer money when instead everyone could just grow their own legal herb in their backyard.

our nation is one of fear. you realize this when you have a seed of marijuana, and even though no one can see you, you feel fear of planting it. the idea that some THING in this world, is PREVENTING YOU from planting a seed of a plant.

what happened to this fucking country.

it wasn't designed so the government could control us. we have let this happen. we are CONTROLLED. we do not have freedom any more. this is the most horrific thing i can think of. And we are so socially conditioned growing up in public schools that it takes a serious awakening to even begin to question or understand what is going on...to begin to understand that something is not right... that your freedom has been taken from you.

i do not want to be controlled.

just sayin man... sometimes i wonder if i'm somehow different from everyone who watches tv...since.... i haven't watched it in 5 6 years maybe.

Like, is it possible that our culture is actually condtioned through television? And if you don't watch it, you actually became different from most people in America? (since most people watch tv)... just weird to think about. Sometimes I feel that is happening to me.

Morning INDI,
Yes you are a ranter, lol But ranting is good. Don't just read the lips though.
Sure there are many terrible habits people fall into, mostly out of fear or the denial of fear.
But look around you here, say. Many of the peeps here don't drive hummers, aren't fashion slaves, try to decrease their footprint on Mother.
Many peeps watch TV but know better than to swallow the pill. There's an off switch, you've used it, trust that others do as well.
Drink free trade coffee, it's worth it.
I was talking with Wifey about this just the other day. Why are we bombarded with so much negative vibe in our media.
Simple really.
A headline that read " 1.5 Billion people had an alright day today. Same expected tomorrow!" Just wouldn't sell that many newspapers.
Yet maybe that's what we need.

Rants are a good thing, now take the next step. Turn your rant into an action.

Sure our system if whacked but its ours, so let's fix it. You can abandon it, that's also your right, because that's the good part of our system. Others aren't so lucky.

Please don't take any of this as a slam, it is not. I don't do that.

Chaung Tse once wrote - Sweep your own backyard and the world will follow.

Let's try it. I'll bring the brooms, you pack the bowl.

The reason we know our country is screwed up today is because we fondly remember yesterday and fear tomorrow. We are proud of what we were, hate what we are and fear what we will become.

Our time in history is pervaded by paradox.
We have taller buildings but shorter tempers;
Wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but we have less;
We buy more but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families,
More conveniences, but less time;
More degree's, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgment;
More experts, yet more problems,
More medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much,
Smoke too much,
Spend too recklessly,
Laugh too little,
Drive too fast,
Get too angry,
Stay up too late,
Get too tired,
Read too little,
Watch TV too much,
and Pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions,
but reduced our values.

We talk too much,
Love too seldom, and Hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life,
We've added years to life not---life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.
We've conquered outer space but not inner space.
We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.
We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudices.
We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than
ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast food and slow digestion,
Big men and small character,
Steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce,
fancier houses but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips,
Disposable diapers,
Throwaway morality,
One night stands,
Overweight bodies, and Pills that do everything from cheer,
to quieting, to killing.
It is a time when there is much in the show window and
nothing in the stockroom.

A time when technology can bring this letter to you,
and a time when you can choose either to share this
insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember, spend some time with your loved ones,
because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to
you in awe, because that little person soon will grow
up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you,
because that is the only treasure you can give with your
heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say "I Love You" to your partner
and your loved ones, but most of all mean it.

A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes
from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for
some day that person will not be there again.

Give time to Love,
Give time to speak,
Give time to listen,
Give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

To all my friends and family in my life,
Thanks, for being there

Remember the generation gap?

Remember the generation gap?

Guess what? You're on the other side of it now, I am too.

Add today's mind-numbingly repetitive/redundant 'news & entertainment' and the constant barrage of communications (cell, text, fax, 'net, beepers, IPhone, etc), and you have the recipe for chaos (let's not forget how the anonymity of the 'net has destroyed manners/civility).

But, if you can tune those things down/out, you see that most of it is much ado about nothing. Unfortunately our govt uses that seeming 'chaos' as camouflage for their shenanigans and outright illegalities, and that's what pisses me off about it.

Lastly, I've been to 51 countries on four continents, and every place I've been has had problems. I still think we (America) can take back our govt, but until the average guy/gal decides to get informed and votes for their real interests instead of these bullshit diversion issues we have now (gay marriage, stem cell research, medical marijuana, etc). Anything to keep from talking about what's really happening.

Remember, it could be worse, many places wouldn't allow us this site to talk about these things. I've shed my blood and the blood of others for this nation, my greatest hope is that it was not for naught.

Peace.

I think I disagree with you Pops and agree with indicad.... tv most definately is the drug of a nation.... breeding ignorance. Its well documented that tv induces a state under which people become very susceptible to suggestion. They found that intelligent people tended to fall asleep very quickly.

I am lucky with enough non commercial tv and access to the net that I am pretty well outside the commercial networks reach. I do watch commercial tv from time to time but not more than an hour or two a week and I am always disappointed. all I see is "comedy shows" full of people being nasty to each other and all these voyeristic shows where people think they are going to be famous.. it seems everyone thinks that being famous is actually a career and no talent necessary... those reality shows are just perverse public execution type events... like the romans and the gladiators.. thumbs down....

If you haven't read or seen 1984 I recommend it just for that aspect alone. Its how they dispense justice. TV influences everyone who watches it. How else could a country go to war on a complete lie.

And tv calls for the trying of american citizens for treason and public execution....they say it straight out on faux... that is sickening.

A friend said not long ago, turn it off and keep it off. They just keep talking the same crap year after year and its true. one decade its nuclear winter, then its ice age or global warming. And those breakfast news shows are very seasonal. They just recycle the scripts. I dont know about there now days but we used to get these like tabloid news shows.. exposing charlatans and con men types, new medical miracles and endless diets and diet products.... complete rubbish but the same shite year after year. mind numbing.

For anyone who enjoys tv...and there are lots of peeps here who like the brain expanding tv, docs and such..but can do without the ads I recommend getting a tivo or a topfield or a capture card in your pc. You can get ad skippers and all sorts of good stuff. I dont watch ads. record couple channels at once. I prefer to be in control and am not interested in drama's either mine or other peoples.

Of course the real answer is to turn it off and talk to people....ask them what they think about stuff. always more entertaining and enlightening than the idiot box.

do like i do.....
only watch the last 10-15 mins of the news on tv.
you catch the 2 most important things, sports and the feel good stories.
remember, people in general are still wild savages.
sex and violence sells, and its all about ratings and money!!

I love your rant...
It is insightful and provokes intelligent conversation and hopeful suggestions, thanks el gato.
You'll always get the useless love it or leave it crew but most here agree that while there is hope, we are pretty fucked up

The US is becoming more highly polarized than ever. We are suffering from a very toxic dose of Dubyuh fatigue. Thought they were getting "a guy I wanna have a beer with" and ended up with a dictator. Only half the eligible voters bother. The election next year should be very interesting even if the campaign ads are not. Hopefully the next regime will be more consumer/environmentally friendly. If the MSM becomes more than pure propaganda, I might start watching TeeVee again. As it is now, I totally boycott the crap. The admission of total, unmitigated failure is becoming a very bitter pill for MSM and those still with Bush bumper stickers to swallow.

I think the situation has ALWAYS been like this and in actuality it's getting better as time goes on. What we are going through now is the ability to witness this everyday if we choose to because of the media and various outlets for it. It's hard for people to admit that the people they are close to and love are just like the people they watch on tv BUT most are it's just that they couldn't see this themselves because of the love they have for certain people changed their perception of their actions. A person on tv is a stranger to you so you will watch his actions objectively and see them for what they are and not what you want them to be.

I know it's hard BUT that's why you should watch PBS or discovery channel, etc. to get what you want to learn about while the others just dumb themselves down.

I think the world is getting worse for people who live a careless life because everything they do will hurt themselves and everyone like them eventually BUT you can't tell them this because instead of listening and deciphering something for themselves, they do what the majority are doing even if it's going to hurt them in the long run.

Also, most are just downright lazy to think. Thinking with an abstract mind is the HARDEST thing to do because you can't go to something physical to give you your answer to something. You HAVE to do this YOURSELF and this is hard for people who since they can remember have had a school or elder tell them something to be fact and they never had to figure this out on their own or understand the meaning in it's essence because all people are taught is that they just need to know enough to pass a test. This is why most people lack emotional intelligence and strength and this is the real part of what makes a person, how they react to an action.

For the people who don't mind thinking in a different way to get answers to questions, who like to learn other peoples culture through reading and experiencing them, and also try all the things that life has to offer even if it's just thinking or talking about it objectively, life is getting better because even though things are more segregated, they are out in the open for those who want to learn more about them and for a person like me, this is WONDERFUL.
Anyway these documentaries will help you understand some of what I'm stating:
