I went into the other room just now and glanced out the window and noticed something on the outside wall. And I thought OMG that is some sort of huge new type of bug I´ve never seen before and was pretty worried.
Then I took a closer look and it looked like a snail, thinking no way! But it is indeed a snail! I wonder how long it took to get this high up and what it´s hoping to find , lol

That's a flying snail. They swarm at this time of year.

They're easy to trap with butter and garlic.

lol, they´re good when prepared well but those are a particular kind of snail. :)

It hasn´t moved since I spotted it either. Maybe I should make him a little parachute?

It probably started to run out of lube and give itself gravel rash? I have no idea if that's really a thing??

It seems logical that they would only have so much lube before they need to stop and wait for more hydration from rain? :dunno:

The snail is not sure it can fly at this point either. At this stage its self confidence is minimal. Flying snails do not make good pets.

so if it didn´t fly up it really had one hell of a climb , I wonder how long it took him... :)

I'm glad you asked.
Snails move 'faster than we thought', says study

A new experiment has shown that snails can travel at a fairly speedy one metre per hour!

Researchers attached multicoloured LED lights to the snails so they could track their movements over a day.

The snails were fast enough to explore the length of an average UK garden in a single night.

Cuddles, if you see multicoloured LED lights in your garden at night, DO NOT GO OUTSIDE! You could be trampled by surprisingly speedy snails.

lmao, this is a new thing round here - at least in my flat, I live in the city, so pretty urban with some gardens and green spots dotted around the buildings.
Just went into the other room to take another look and it still hasn´t budged. Are these guys nocturnal or is he just still knackered from climbing up here. Or is he afraid to poke his head out because he has vertigo, .lol
