I also looked at the Subaru Crosstrek. The Bronco has a bit more room and is higher off the ground. I believe it will be better off road than the Crosstrek. They offered me 17,000 for my Mustang. If the finance comes back where I need it to be I'll get the Bronco by next Friday. The color I want is still in transit to the dealership. I'll post a picture if I get it. The only modifications will be a trailer hitch from U-haul and the crossbar accessory for the roof rack for carrying my canoe.

That will be an awesome setup Tim, the subaru crosstrek is ok vehicle but it has alot of headaches with the electronics. All the stuff on my obs 97 still works and the subaru you can't even use the power locks. Idk if we got a lemon or what. It runs and goes tho so I ain't complaining too much, but it's well due for an upgrade. I'd like to find something older but reliable and easy to work on. I'd love new but idk if I can keep up with the interest rn. Laid off just doing side jobs and the wife's hours got chopped in half because everyone is worried about the election coming up. Pinching pennies save for what ifs.

My Mrs does all the driving and we live in the mountains. She has been driving a Subaru for over 20 years, will drive up and over the mountain in just about any condition. They 2 Subarus we have owned have been very dependable.

I've heard plenty of horror stories of blown engines in the Mustang I currently own. I've never had an issue with mine. I did have the window jerking issue. My 97 f250 powerstroke has been the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Unless it's freezing cold then I have to plug her in. But she starts. The subaru goes very well through the snow.

I hit a deer last night doing 55 with my f250 barely dented the bumper

i cleaned her up past night got quite a bit of usable meat. The rest is being ground up into dog food and being processed and canned.

That sucks about your bumper. I'm sure if I hit a deer with my new Bronco it would cost at least 10,000 to fix it. These new vehicles are not made like that truck of yours.
I only got into one accident in my life in my 1976 Dodge Tradesman 200 van. I rear-ended a Subaru that stopped suddenly in pouring rain. My bumper looked the same as yours the Subaru was totaled.

Gotta say she took it like a champ! I had a 2002 dodge Dakota sport i hit a deer with cost me 6000k worth of damage. Insurance covered it thank God though. Does your bronco have the sport mode?

Yes. It has the GOAT selector for the transmission, that gives you 4 different modes. And also a low gear selector.

I had a Bronco long ago...bought a 6 year old bronco in 82...it was fantastic for driving around the mountains. Never caused me any real issues, accept when the bearing went and the locking in the hub came undone and my tire and rim came off while driving. It was minus 28F outside.

That's a good looking bronco you got there, hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine.

Cost $5.000.00 to replace the bumper on our Subaru after a deer ran into the car, $9.000.00 total.
According to some statistics our Impreza has a high rating for surviving a crash, hope never to find out.
We had a big tree branch fall on our last Subarus' roof, it was wrote off.

It's all the safety features that cost so much. And the reason most vehicles are just written off after an accident. When I had my body shop back in the early 80's. An airbag was over $3000.00. I can't imagine they are cheaper now. My Bronco has 3 airbags and 2 curtains, so I'd guess if they all deployed in an accident they would just write the vehicle off. I used to purchase late model wrecks and rebuild them. I made pretty good money doing it.

That must have really sucked in those temperatures. I have no favorite auto manufacturers. I've owned many different ones over my life. I just liked the looks of the Bronco and it has pretty good reviews.

Oh boy, did it ever suck.
Got a hold of a friend who was handy and he helped me. Eventually had the vehicle towed to the Ford dealership, they told me I needed some expensive replacement with the axle etc. My friend suggested there was something wrong with what they told me. Had my vehicle towed home then. My friend went to a mechanic, talked with him and borrowed a hand tool that would reshape the threads on the shaft that got damaged when the rim came off. That's all that needed done, I didn't need to replace the front end like suggested at the dealership. Never went back there again.
