Unfortunately we're all intitled to our opinions. People like Gen. Pace live in the past. What you do/who you do is your own business, it doesnt belong ANYWHERE in politics or religion.

I don't really consider soldier a real job, so it is ok that the army discriminates against gays.
The army sucks and discrimination is not the worst part of it.

And you go to the army willingly in america, not like in other countries.
I did anything so that the army in my country thought im not good enough for them and I didn't have to go.

In any real job discrimination should be forbidden by law and that is the case in some countries.

Two things I find funny in this statement. The constant need of straight people who defend homosexuals to make sure, usually at the end of their statement, that "Just for the record, IM NOT GAY"

Just curious why you find it funny. I don't think it's ok to discriminate against black folks but I don't pretend to be black. I dropped a couple comments in the Women's forums about epithets for women but I won't claim to be female either. So when someone stands up for another's rights, are they supposed to pretend to be that instead of who they are? I think it lends more credibility to the stance if a straight guy/girl says he/she has no problem with gays/lesbians even though he/she themselves are not.

Lets see. War is moral. Invading foreign countries without provocation is moral. Making billions off the oil situation is moral. Spraying deadly chemicals over 3rd world countries,killing the young,old and infirm, is moral. Eliminating the constitutional rights of your citizens is moral. Throwing people in jail over a plant is moral.

But homosexuality and smoking weed is immoral. Interesting philosophy,but fucked up!!!

The reason I find it funny is because a group of people (black people) that have been discriminated against for a very long time can harbor such hatred for another minority. But then again, every race/ethnicity/social group always has hatred for someone else.

I would just think that since black people as a group have and still feel strong discrimination from most non-black people, they would be more sympathetic towards other sub-groups who also are discrimnated against strongly within the same society.

I think American society would change a lot faster if all of these sub-groups would lose their attitude towards one another and realize that we are all PEOPLE.

Note: I am neither black nor gay, I just really am sick of groups of people putting down other groups of people for what boils down to very arbitrary reasons ranging from misquoted verses of text in the bible to just personal upbringing (if your daddy hates fags, you will tend to hate fags). I live in the Northern part of the United States and still deal with a lot of people from the Souther part of the United States. It's amazing how many people in the South still use terms for minorities that I thought had died out in the early 80's.

For every report I read about how far America has come in regards to tolerance, every day reminds me that our great Social Movement is really just a very slow Social Crawl. (Take, for example, our last multi-state vote on gay marriages and gay rights within households)
