I myself have been bullied alot

the thing is, it might shorten your fuse a bit

so one day, when you get attacked again, it brings all that stuff back, and makes the abuse much less tolerable

I don't feel like shooting people though, just doing my thing

sure I get very angry at times, it might be unrelated though

I think overstimulation plays a factor in people's distress

The Effects of Martial Arts on Bullying in Children

ABSTRACT
Bullying impacts as many as one in three children (or more in some
studies). The impact of bullying on children is similar to other forms of
abuse like sexual abuse or physical abuse, far-reaching and potentially
long term. The impact isn't solely on the child who is being bullied, it also
impacts the child who is doing the bullying. It may have short and long
term consequences as well. Martial arts has often been suggested to
reduce bullying behaviors (and sometimes suggested as increasing
bullying behaviors) but there has been limited research on this level of
violence between kids and martial arts as an intervention. The purpose of
this study was to examine the effectiveness of martial arts (in particular
the Karate for Kids™ program) on bullying behaviors. 223 children were
given a standardized questionnaire (the Olweus Bullying Questionnaire)
and their parents/guardians were given a short parent survey to measure
bullying behaviors in beginner, intermediate and advanced martial arts
students. Results showed significant differences between the groups and
indicated a reduction in the incidence of children being bullied and a
strong indication in a reduction in the child’s tendency to bully others after
extended martial arts training. These findings suggest that parents,
guardians or other child professionals who are interested in reducing
bullying behaviors should consider martial arts classes for children.

Uh, I hate explaining jokes. Mine might be taken out of context I think. I do not prefer dining on shit.

I was referring to that funny picture of Nirvana. By smelling teen spirit I was referring to smelling pussy, which after I thought about it some is more tangy than tart to me. Rather more like ....poon-tangy actually. I guess that makes me a puss...wuss eater? Damn, God made me like that man, can't help it. Forgive this sinner....Don't judge me!

Jajajaja! ROTFLMAO!!! Way to go, Ddaver! Gotcha!

NON-coprophiliac, but an old perv nonetheless... Nobody can blame ya for eating at the Y, man. And that does NOT make ya a sinner in my book (altho in Bama, it might???).

Cheers, ya nutball!

On a serious note about bullying though, most bullies, at least when I was growing up, seemed to come from families that lacked stability and/or love and emotion. I was bullied horribly from k-6th grade, then I got fed up. I also got weights and a bench from my mom. From 6th grade on, I learned to stand up for myself. Once you find out that the pain of a punch really isn't that bad, you realize that you were afraid for nothing. Problem is I had a lot of emotional problems myself, and I then became an asshole, and not just in my school. So, in essence, it boils down to family life for both the predator and prey in schools. We aren't allowing kinds to figure this out anymore, or we're ignoring horrible abuses and writing them off as bullying, and its no wonder kids snap now a days. Not to mention social media now, can't even comment on that cause it wasn't around when I was in high school for the three years I was. That has to be a huge amount of pressure. Either way though, basically, America has the oldest kids in the world.... we refuse to.let them grow up and learn lessons most members here experienced, plus, my school was pretty dangerous, stabbings were relatively common, but when the white affluent schools/kids are shooting shit up, then you KNOW there's a problem. And also, schools are all tests now, its awful. Fuck that shit.... ugh. Hug your kids, love your kids, and teach them to stand up for themselves. That's how you stop bullying, love, respect, giving them an ability to male a choice, and teaching them how to wool some fucking ass. :)

Very good, Many Clouds! I have found most kids who know they can defend themselves, and grow up tussling with brothers, sisters & dad usually feel secure enough that they cannot BE bullied.

On the other hand, most of the bullies - the "ear flickers" on the school buss - often grow up to seek positions where they can further bully others as adults. Example: cops, govt workers, TSA, etc... Go figure.

When a kid already has been thru some bike crashes & gets up, dusts off & gets back on, when a kid can get his nose snotted & realizes it's really not all THAT bad (no fear), then they have a more balanced perspective from which to view the world.

Protecting them to death is not the answer - that breeds more bullies.

You are a most perspicacious individual, methinx.

if you that much bigger your also that much slower. kneecaps as its hard to fight on your knees. I went through pure hell as a kid till I learned human anatomy and just where to concentrate on. I spent a lot of my childhood in the woods ,fishing ,hiking and avoiding a beatdown when possible. I got beat up a lot tho buy several kids. till one day I said fuck this shit.the only reason I don't get radical is I don't really like to be caged.fighting is a lot mental and I wasn't confident till I snapped. I had low self esteem.nowadays I have a hard time controlling myself when someone pushes my buttons as I am already thinking ok kneecap ,punch in throat ect and maybe what I can grab to beat em down if needed maybe that stick on the ground ect . lol I don't get any takers just talkers lately and I like it that way. peace

Hope so, too, Bombadil.

Superman - I hear you. I, too, have a hard time turning the other cheek over and over again. Gets tiresome. Think - solar plexus v. your elbow, and brachial nerve ganglion (about a hand-breadth below armpit on the ribs) v your fist. Those will put anybody (even a tank) down. Even better, leaves no marks. They go down gasping, you stroll nonchalantly away.

I carry a 4 ft piece of eucalyptus with me for beach walks, etc. I'm not that bad off, but it does help me jump across cracks between boulders & stuff... And I don't have issues with bad dogs, either. God help any jerk who wants to bother me. "Old lady with walking stick" action they don't want, I promise.
