Once a month Michaels & A.C. Moore run a coupon in the Sunday paper for 40-50% off any single item. And, they accept each others coupons, so you get two chances each month!

marley - There's no real formula. Its more a matter of trying a few different methods and seeing what works for you or how you enjoy it the most. The coffee grinder is good method, but you do want to clean the lid carefully. The residue is mostly keif.

First time out just throw something together and give it a whirl. Then adjust it the next time around.

hey all a question and a comment:

:chin: question: i was wondering, if anyone noticed any hole cutters at micheals or a.c. moores that are about the size of a dime, i was just thinking that it maybe easier to cut some seperators that could with stand heat and be pealed off, instead of dealing with the puck stickin' to the dime (not all of us are gonna get it right all the time, could be wrong, but maybe the waxpaper seperators could make things easier, and multiple pucks at once would be cool)

:joint: comment: i always knew about the michaels 40% off thing and the first thing i did was look for the flyers at the front of the store. they didnt have them so i asked the woman at the counter if they had any, although they didnt have any she told me that she could still give me the 40% off, i just had to give her my zip code, and BAM 40% off. . . . i dont know or cant say, if its something they have always done or not, or whether they practice that in every store, but hey give it a try.

No, you can press a very small quantity fine. Try chilling the press before you remove the puck, or check out some of the other posts for alternative methods of removal.

didn't see this the first time thru the thread, will try soon =)

Here are three tricks that usually help. 1st, you can put a small piece of saran type plastic wrap between the puck and the dimes. 2nd, you can put a drop of olive oil on the dimes before you press. And 3rd, my favorite is to chill the entire press in the freezer after pressing, then just slip the tip of a razorblade between the puck and the dime, and it pops right off. Let us know how you make out and throw up a few pic's.

well i ended up not getting the makins stainless steel.... i got a purpress instead....it des the job great but ill still buy a piece maker coz this one ive got makes tiny little pucks only 12mm in diameter and i want to be able to press a bit more at once and have fewer large lumps as opposed to more small ones, however the end result of these little pucks with this Purpress is great, glossy black sticky surface and dense inside really nice homogenised lunmp i might actually get one of those alumium piecemaker knockoffs by grassleaf...theyve done purpress too and theyve knocked off all the red eye pipe range...i bet he is fukin livid .....purpress called the t-lock press and piecemaker called the heavey presser... I find it quite ironic that grassleaf mostly use the word "Origional" as a prefix to all their products coz nearly everything they sell is a direct knockoff lol......
Has anyone seen the new grassleaf one, i dont know who they nicked this one off but it looks fun for novelty value... its a grinder with crystal cather and a press all built in one unit.....the barrel in the press is the same size as the little pocket presses but being built into a grinder the body is 33 mm so must be easier to work with.
ive gone pollen presser crazy lol if im not careful ill have a dozen by the time oive got more more trim to process lol....
thanks againfor this thread..... 2 friends of mine who dont grow but smoke a lot and use crystal cather grinders have bought the stainless ones and are absoloutely stoked with them after faffing about with those little endcap press thingies....... If any1 in UK wants one then go to www.polymerclaypit.co.uk and go to the metal clay section , then tools, then basic tools and its there for 30 pounds.
Happy pressing everyone

I made this one for under $20. That's a half gram puck. It will make bigger pucks just throw in more kief.

PipeDream - Brilliant, just brilliant!!! I know everyone saids to themselves "Why didn't I think of that?" But I have worked with fumo clay and these extruders many times, it just never connected. Thank goodness it connected for you.

I feel so lucky today, I was just looking into buying a PieceMaker, but while searching the web for a retail site to buy from, I found a hit on your thread. I am heading out to Michael’s right now to pick one up. You just saved me major duckets!
Thanks,

Hey, I'm using the cylinder type press, but am def. interested in the stainless clay extruder. Pressed a thin puck today from kief collected in my sifter tin, ran press under hot water, tightened more. Then placed in freezer to try to make puck removal easy from the 2 pennies I put on either side of the kief in the press...

Broke my razor blade trying to pry the hash free from the pennies. IMO, waxpaper or cellophane will also be used next time, as the freezer didn't make it any easier. The hash came free after some work, but had to scrape sticky pieces off the pennies which I pressed together w/ my fingers.

I gave half to a buddy of mine, here's 1/2 of the lil' hash puck, and the fingerpressed remnants that stuck to the pennies sitting atop my little press bought at our headshop for $25. It's not made by an extruder, but a puck pic's a puck pic...

Quality is good... :rasta:

Peace
