Took me a long time to realize that the US gun industry had turned it into a political vehicle run by industry salesmen: over time, they turned every moment of public concern over the *existing* impact of firearms on the citizenry into a “clear and present danger to the freedoms of “law-abiding” gun owners“ - and began stoking fears of confiscation among gun owners *deliberately* - and *politically*.

You can trace this back to the riots of 1968 over the assassination of MLK.

Gun ownership was not an issue before then, but during the riots, gun/rifle sales went through the roof as White folks who had moved out of the city due to fear of Black violence spilling out of the ghettos bought guns for protection.

That's prolly when the NRA realized there was money to be made by stoking fear.

I was going for artistic exaggeration, not lying, but your point is well taken.
The majority of this country supports the second amendment and also wants reasonable and logical gun control that ensures that crazy people and children do not have easy access to guns.
In my opinion, the NRA has been trying to keep our elected officials from even debating these issues.

thanks for your honesty. here is some of mine...i agree with you. the NRA LONG ago became a never-empty ATM machine which many on the right (center & many on left ALSO believe in the 2nd amendment) kept full for them). "back in the day" the NRA was the only thing that kept cowardly pols from caving to far left gun grabbers that are afraid of their own shadows, and kept us from becoming like Great Britain. now, if armed criminals break into your home there & attack you, they want you to run out the back door because "oh, they are just poor & misunderstood...don't HURT them!" here, we still get to shoot home invasion thugs & car-jackers. and i'm damn proud of that...

I'm sure your preferred news source suppressed the information but Biden was guilty. He withheld aid to Ukraine unless they fired the prosecutor who was investigating the business his son worked for and a real investigation should have started a long time ago. I don't blame Trump for pulling the same dirty tricks the Democrats have been pulling for years.

1) as far as i remember, the dirt trump wanted was about burisma and hunter, nothing to do with biden witholding aid.

2) as far as i know, nothing was illegal about the withholding of aid to strongarm ukraine into firing the prosecutor

3) as as been pointed out, the prosecutor had stalled on investigsting burisma... the bidens had every reason to want him to keep his position if they were to be implicated with burisma

4) this is about trump seeking help of a foreign power in an election
