Red backs are a very docile spider and really only bite if sat on or picked up.
They haven't killed anyone since the 50s as they have an anti venom. They will kill a child in 45mins if they can't get anti venom.
Funnel Webs are the dangerous ones. Kill an adult in less than 15mins and a child in less than 10 if not given anti venom.

I came across the funnel spider while in the google rabbit hole. I'm glad they aren't native to my area and hope they stay across the ocean.

Edit: I'm glad I remembered all day as I didn't have time to change it earlier....

I also read these funnel spiders are aggressive. So rather deadly and wants to bite. Australia can keep it!

i try to be open-minded and not unnecessarily kill things...but i'd mash that SOB with a rock just for looking like that. that's the same thought went through my mind when i flipped a rock in Alabama and saw my first scorpion. i never actually mashed one, but that's what my brain was screaming for me to do...
Strong self preservation?

Yeah they live in holes in the ground for about 9 months of the year but breeding season is summer so both the males and females come out and walk around looking for each other.
That's when they crawl into shoes and people put the shoe on with em inside and get bitter. I live in the area that has the Sydney funnel Webs and they are really venomous ones.
I always bang me shoes out in the morning before I pur em on. 😂
They can also create an air bubbles around themselves and live under water for upto 2 weeks. People have jumped into their pools and trod on them on the bottom of the pool.
Pretty amazing spider but the deadliest there is.
