Not a funny picture...but i hit a friggin mountain lion last night. Was coming back from an event at red rocks amphitheater that is just barely in the foothills of the mountains here and a mountain lion jumped the center barrier and wound up in my lane and I tagged it right in the head doing 70 mph. Cars a bit fucked but mostly i feel bad about taking out this majestic predator. Fuckers are huge, had no idea, but i totally get how they are able to take down humans. The fender over my driver side wheel has deep scratches, thing sort of flew past me with teeth and claws out so guessing its from that.
Feel bad, couldn't exactly hop out and make sure it was alive. Called the county to send someone out.

dang,that sucks...i was driving the alcan mid winter and this giant friggin timberwolf trotted out into the road...i don't know why but i locked the doors! it was so dang big though

man i really can't explain how much of a slow motion "oh shit something jumped in front of the car...oh crap gonna hit it....wtf that's a big fucking mountain lion" came into effect. I saw it face and claws out as it flew past but my wife just saw the top and back, we just yelled out "oh shit that was a mountain lion." Slowed down but then realized there wasn't anything I could do to help and I might get eaten, so we went a mile or so down to check the car.
my encounter happened in slow motion as well,except the opposite way...i was driving on ice and the wolf just trotted down the road right in front of me...i had time to get impatient and honk and the wolf gave me a look that said "i'm gonna eat you if you do that again"...always fun when you realize you're not at the top of the food chain
Cool story about the big cat. Same for the wolf, but I like them and would have stayed longer for that one. had a red fox one time come out and stand in front of my tractor one time when I was bush hogging out back by the woods. She was a very pretty little red fox, but that behavior was strange. May have had rabies.
