Just picked up one of these.

The 8 inch model is smaller than my 6" vortex, 1/2 if not 1/3 the weight, and comes with a built in dimmer that is extremely responsive with no buzz whatsoever. At it's lowest setting it pulls a mere 10 watts and puts out 315 cfm.

Picked it up to use for a stealth drying room for my outdoor harvest. Standing in the next room with the door cracked I can't even hear it at all.

At full power it does make the typical whoosh sound from the airflow, but dialed down it is hands down the most silent fan I've ever come across. They also come in a stealth model, called the hyper fan stealth.

Just wanted to pass this along to anyone in need. I'll post a pic of it next to my vortex in a couple days.

I have the 6" version and I'm very happy with it. I added a homemade duck silencer and it's even more quiet. My next purchase will probably be the stealth model. Stealth is my primary concern so anything that reduces noise is a must.

thank you scrappy, quiet is always good... looking at reviews, one said one the included speed controller was cheaply made and that the manufacturer specifies that one 'must not' use another brand speed controller, what do you think? how about you smitty? did you need to purchase a separate collar for ducting? and how about a pic of the DIY muffler, smitty? do they pull like a centrifugal?

Those S&P ultrasilent 1000 TD is a best fan i buyed to date..

21-22 decibels of sound is like whisper compared to other models.

Mine was fall from mine hands from a height of atleast 2 meters and broked casings
but i adjusted and fan works further whithouth problems.

350 euros look much but performance and so quiet work cant be achived with cheap
models..

The fans speed control is proprietary to the fan. They are used as a system and I don't believe you can use a different controller.
I made the muffler for maybe 1/2 the price of buying one.

I used 2 couplings and a Quikrete concrete form tube for the body. I purchased the sound dampening foam at the thickness I desired and adhesive sprayed it to hold tight into place. I have some pictures of the process somewhere. I may start a thread if I find them.

As far as decibles, on lowest setting which is where I run, Im around 30-35 decibles. Running full I'm at 60-65 decibles. I didn't test decibles before the muffler install simply because it didn't occur to me that there are apps for that, but I could tell a difference after installing. Outside my enclosure you cannot hear the fan running when on the lowest setting. I run a tent inside of a custom built cabinet. Hell...my wife doesn't even know when I start up. I'm curious how accurate an app is for sound metering.

I'm no audible expert.....but I'm pretty sure a 10 decible increase is twice as loud. I may need to play with the locations of the mufflers to see how it affects the decibels. Again, I have never tried metering the decibels till now. Just a newbie.

I am an expert, and 6db is twice as loud. So 10db is a little more than 2.5 times louder.

I can't imagine those apps are all that accurate seeing as how the professional SPL meters are calibrated in a near zero db environment. But they'll get "close enough for government work".

That's why I went for the 8 inch model. Dialed down to 35% it still pulls 315 cfm, drawing only 10 watts, and is extremely quiet. Most importantly, for me at least, is the elimination of the buzz when using the speed controller. I often found that more troublesome to silence than the fan itself.

I really like the speed controller. It's less than half the size of a typical controller, could be why that reviewer said it was cheap, but to me the quality is excellent and reduced size is an improvement. When looking at reviews I always read the negative ones first but in this case where only one person is bitching about it and all the others are positive I take it with a grain of salt.

This controller plugs directly into the fan and made specifically for this fan. I wouldn't even try to use a different one, and it comes with the fan so can't imagine why anyone would want to.

I run one like the last one 1600 watt draw very powerful and can here the air coming out of the out door vents and when first set up it seemed fairly loud so what i did was make a insulated box and changed my out door vents so they had no metal fins which created noise ..

since then i here hardly any air sounds let alone whinning from fins and fan
and 0 vibrations noises
Its just like my shop air compressor fuck was it noisey in shop kicking on and off since drilling a hole in wall and making a insulated shed with whirly bird on top can use air all day and not even here compressor kick in

I was just saying to someone in a K message the apps are cool for the information, but its impossible to calibrate them in a grow house. Last time my power went out for few hours I busted it out.... only time I have been able to properly calibrate it.

We don't even have a lot of lights, however there are plants in every room except the bathroom and living room/kitchen.

i have the worlds worst tinitus so i cant be bothered by anything regarding nuanced accoustics... i just wanted to say that shitty db meters are fine for shit like table saws and work shops because the signal to noise ratio is insane.

the lower and lower you go the more you want to spend.

id have to guess that a phone app is total shit though... unless im mis understanding what you are talking about.

again im no expert with regard to sound or acoustics, but imho frequency of sound is every bit as important to classify as dB is...

extreemly low frequency shit is very hard deaden. extreemly high frequency shit is very easy to deaden.

i can run my circular saw at 3am inside my atrium. its open on 1 wall facing the street. the area above is open to the sky, but the roof is sloped away like a horn.

you cannot hear the circular saw inside my neighbors house 50ft away.

constrast that to some dudes shitty car stereo a block away.

i have heard that you can analyze sound inside some free apple software but ive forgotten the name. you need some sort of wierd microphone though. something about a condenser.

I run two of the 8'' phresh, one with inbuilt silencer, and one with a flat pack silencer. and both have 2 rolls of thick insulation around them with a gap to quiten further, mostly running on 1/4 throttle or half, have 3 6'' phresh , one for intake into another room that runs half speed n I can hear it outside , so another silencer coming up.

flat pack silencer is not as good as inbuilt.

Am awared nothing beats S&P ultrasilent models in quietness,

22 decibels whithouth muffler just with sonodec duckting is a hard quest to achive,
1000 TD model for 5x5 tents are ideal size and made great negative pressure
inside enviroment.

so a fan that pulls (eg) 1000cuft/min at 0.12" will only draw for example 500cuft/min at 1"? or something similar.. do I read those s&p tables correctly DS? didn't see 1000TD model.. I seem to remember that this type of inline fan doesn't 'pull' like a typical centrifugal fan pulls and elbows and moderatly long runs of ducting negates this type of inline fans numbers.. has technology passed me by again?
