I love that you talked about the "cartoon effect" ! Some strong sativas can produce effects with visual enhancing propreties. Things around you can look "unreal", "more 3D" or "cartoonish". Sometimes people faces can look weird or their heads can look inflated like baloons.

Greetings,

My very late flowering female is starting to really fill out. Man, it's going to be a good match with that ultra-late gianormous male. I'm finally feeling confident that this beast is going to be larger than my biggest plant last year, maybe by a lot. Ideally, I would transplant to a bigger pot now, but it's still raining a lot here. I continue to move it into my rain protected location, the coolhouse. Then I move it back outside when the sun shines. I'm a believer in unfiltered direct sun. I also have some workers coming to the house soon, and I need to move them to better hidden places. Heavier, bigger pots would make this treatment very difficult.

Here she is:

My northern plant is really not suited for this environment. The good news is that it's sister, grown up north, is being trimmed up, and the trimmer reports a love for it's strong spicy citric aroma. My plant growing here already has a spot of mold on it. If the high wasn't so exquisite, I'd just drop it all together. It is as good as SAGE, Bangi Haze, Trainwreck, Big Sur Holy Weed, or VISC Burmese. The only ones of those I didn't breed to it were SAGE and Big Sur Holy Weed, only because the children of the crosses didn't turn out well. The mysteries of breeding. Again, when I find a strong one from these hearty S.E. Asian plants, my line will be combined into it.

Greetings,

My #2 plant from last year is growing on me. It's quite strange. When I first take a few tokes, it seems pedestrianly muddy. It is just like some old regular ganja x hash plant hybrid that is all too common. Sometime later though, I feel a lift. It kicks into another gear. But more than that, it suddenly clears up. All cerebral zing. It feels like how a friend, Randy California, once described Red Snake. He compared it to the intro music to Star Trek. "Exploring new frontiers." "Engage the warp drive." Something like that. It transports your head into a higher consciousness, suddenly. I sure hope I find one with more of that, but stronger, longer, and without the disapointing muddy intro. I'm feeling more hope with these seeds.

Here is a bud of that gal from sometime before harvest.

Trippiest weed I've ever smoked despite being taken early and the first Ace seed strain I've tried, sometimes I still wonder what it would be like if it was given several more weeks to fully mature, also was done on 9 hours light due to time restrains, very animated high too, but after paper curing it's now brown looking bud but dreamy and psychedelic as I'm someone who hadn't smoked in years before growing this

I have more left of this grow, since I won't able to grow again soon but hope I will, I take breaks trying to preserve my stash, my main question is does this seem harvested too early? This was back in the end of April....

i think personally that might speak to the potential thai in the a5... iirc, doobie said he thought there were thai traits in there, but i might be mixing it up with the c5

What confuses me the most is that people say that the Haze A dominant pheno is the one in Killer a5 Haze that's the most trippy yet others say that Malawi is trippier than Killer a5 Haze, something about that just deosn't add up

the malawi (at least in crosses with it) is some good ass trippy shit, maybe the a5 is trippy in a different way?

honestly, i think i've heard traits can come in suites, but maybe some traits show up without affecting the high? not sure how to put it but maybe some plants have a structure or flowering time etc. that makes us think "this is the such-and-such dominant pheno" but then the high is from the other parent? i dunno, i suck at all this and am VERY not a breeder, just thinking.

also, i know two people can have two very different responses (ie some say chem91 gets them super high, i find it to be nice and medical and relaxing and clear- minded), so maybe it can go either way?

and then there's growing environment, and (as you mention) there's harvest window... etc etc many factors go into the high.

Lovely - ^^ Brutt Garbage cans are tough & varying sizes 24 - 44Gallon I believe all fit on the same dolly base; outdoors I use them to wheel around mediums & such but obviously you could grow plants in them too, they lock & have large casters so you can move heavy ass things in them on uneven terrain, especially if your careful & lift up on the front end handle when crossing bumpy things, anyhow…. it’s a cheaper widely available solution if you’re ever interested, Brutt garbage bins are good color too, don’t stick out but also not so dark to get too hot, I’m sure by design

Peace

I’ve probably got 8 or 9 of these, I use them indoors as well among other dollys too to wheel plants @ easily - ;)

That’s because the A5 was accidentally pollinated (or intentionally) in a S Holland grow operation that held the cuts for decades by a Thai Male, hence the A5T, for years it was still being called the A5 but eventually the truth always seeps out ;)

What's your favorite strain from the Malawi ones?

@Nextgeneration73

only tried two, sadly... i've never grown either, but the dispensary used to carry golden tiger and purple malawi (which one weed menu website said was the purple haze x malawi , but i do remember seeing from ace there was a purple pheno of malawi that you could find if you got [for instance] the breeder's pack... i think it was the purple haze x malawi though based upon the site that said that and my reading on the strain vs my experience, but not a lotta info on the rare purple pheno of malawi so idk)

both of which i tried a few times.

there was a common smell that i guess must be what people call the "oily" malawi smell, idk but i loved it... very savory and different (damn, i wish i could recall the smell now but it has been a few years since i could find ace gear at the dispensary... and my seeds shake in their boots every time i go to crack a new one, gotta larn some more cause dem's precious).

i think i liked the purple malawi better, damn it's been a few years... i wonder if i can find any of my old smoke reports on either. i think i remember the p.m. being more dreamy and psychedelic in that sativa way, maybe denser than the g.t.

the g.t. i had in flower and as a vape cartridge... the cart was super zippy for like an hour but then it got a tad more lethargic (but not like a sleepy couchlock hybrid or something), and i remember the flower gave me the ole classic cartoon vision like i was a teenager again.

for the p.m., everything looked painted. very cool and unique.

if i smoked the p.m. before bed, i went to drifty, c.e.v. land for a couple hours before finally falling asleep. loved it.

they were both kinda up and kinda dreamy and kinda trippy, kinda different slices of the same experience.

Last saturday, I trimmed my Panama Haze (Panama X Oldtimer's Haze) and tried some. Plant was flowered 93 days on a 11/13 light cycle, then the buds were hang dried during 10 days before at 55°F and 55 RH.

Even without a proper cure, the high was unique and psychoactive. It's a really deep and hought provoking one. Effects are really steady with minimal degradation and no body high. It makes everything awesome and kind of hypnotising. Vision and audition are really crisp and clear. Gave me that weird nostalgia and felt like a kid again. Took a nice warm bath with dimmed lights and old school rap music and it was a great moment. I smoked more later in the night and the buzz got refreshed. I even got higher !

That's interesting that dispenseries even had those crosses, not that it would make any difference as I live somewhere where it's illegal but I used to think that despenseries didn't have those crosses because then they'd lose buisness over the other strains not being bought as much, or maybe that was a senerio that I imagined in my own head from everything I've read who knows? Feelhaze here said about having smoked a5 Haze from a dispensery correct me if I'm wrong Feelhaze, honestly though though the only legal psychoactive Cannabis product we have in our country is this CBD/CBN tinture, I don't know why but taking enough of it and it becomes somewhat close to a Hybrid/or maybe even Sativa high, it's the only other alternative when I'm not smoking my Killer a5 Haze that I can use which I smoke rarely of to not finish the batch....
Again I don't know why such a tinture would be that psychoactive I mean true it's not as trippy as smoking Killer a5 Haze but still one would think that such a tinture would be non psychoactive especially being sold in a country where it's still somewhat illegal...
