Any pics of that setup GW?

He is in the process of relocating the machine, so I may have better luck getting pictures in the new location. If not, we are building a second one as we speak, and will photograph that before releasing it to the new owner.

MT-69 in a dry ice/alcohol bath ahead of an appion/diablo what have you in order to prevent running dry? This seems like a good idea but there has to be a reason why it isn't..help ya'll

HighState, running a cooling loop Ahead of the pump would be bad since it could introduce liquid into the pump inlet. Not good for the pump.
Basic problem is that all oil-less refrigerant recovery pumps are designed around similar engineering specifications. They need to be light, and thus aren't build very robustly and are intended to have a constant flow of gas through them. They're just not the right pump for this purpose. That's why I suggested a different approach is needed and GW is proving it out now.

Jdubba: I looked at the parts diagram for the Bacharach ECO-2020 and the pump head looks Exactly like the Appion G5. It likely IS the same pump.

There are oil-free pumps that would work for this application from Blackmer, Rix, Haug and others but they cost upward of $30k even for a small unit.

What RB said. Oil less pump seals wear out fast with no lubricant, which is the situation as you pull a vacuum and remove more and more of it.

They also don't like liquids, and these are not equipted with slugless heads, so if you introduce significant liquid, it can suddenly hydraulically lock the rotating assembly, and sometimes things break.

Worse, it isn't just the liquid butane that is an issue, the butane has oil dissolved in it and if it deposits on the pump seals, it will glaze and the game is over from a sealing standpoint.

Public classes are on hold until Skunk Pharm Research finds a suitable new venue to replace our lost lease, but both my partners, at Specialized Formulations and Oregon Medical Growers, offer private tutoring.

WolfWurx includes formal hands on classes for up to five students with its turnkey systems, but if you just need an hours advice and council on anyone's system, the price is breakfast.

For tutoring by the hour, you might contact Wayward Wolf at the WolfWurx site and inquire.

GW, I bought a Terpp MK3 and he offers a tutorial but Fort Collins is too far to go for me. I really only need someone to show how to run in properly once and I'm good to go. Maybe I can find someone locally with a MK3 I can watch do a wash

Bro, its really not that difficult, it was designed with simplicity in mind. Did you check out skunkpharmresearch.com? Or even the Terpenation at terpene station (or whatever) thread here on IC?

Ah, I see..

I have heard from several sources that the Diablo is better suited to intake liquid than the G5, although I take this with a grain of salt.

To those of you running a Promax, what is your verdict thus far?

Well enough that WolfWurx is adding one on the Mk VA2 that we are building for Sneaky, to go with his original Mk V beta unit, and have one ordered for the automated Mk VA currently beta testing in So Or.

We've also ordered a couple for the current two Mk IV beta testers, so I would say that we are voting with our feet at this point.

They have limitations on pressures and pressure differentials, so can be fussy to operate, but once you get the knack are fast and so far the Promax 6000 behind it loves running wet and hasn't missed a beat.

Yes sir, up here in Seattle area

If you drive to Portland, you can get an hour or so of general instructions on anyone's Terpenator system from WolfWurx for the price of Waywardwolf and my breakfasts, on a time available basis.

If you want an afternoon of hands on tutoring, finishing, and formulating, I would suggest contacting Specializedformulations.com, where they offer tutoring specifically on the Mk III, as well as subsequent processing, by the hour.
