This might have been an ad in the Cali magazine, Sinsemilla Tips that started in 1981.

Anyone know? Nice prices,eh, though in 1980 it was like paying $15/seed today....and worth every cent, obviously.

1981 Hightimes article, not a ad. Never mentions Sacred Seeds.

Article name is "Designer Seeds" written by "R"

Interesting article with some interesting quotes such as

"I have no idea whose it is, but indications I get are that this is probably a publication of one of the many small but serious seed-breeding think tanks that are springing up to serve the seed needs of connoisseurs and growers."

"You have no idea whether I invented or embellished that seed catalog, do you"

It's my catalog from Sacred Seeds, I asked "R" to retype it and remove the name Sacred Seeds, because I was not wanting to attract attention to myself, but "R" begged me to use it, so I said OK.
This was 5 years before Neville and his seed bank stole my varieties and started knocking them off.
This was not my first catalog of seeds. "R" also changed the prices and knocked them upwards, I did not care about that.
I still have most of the seed varieties in the deep freeze.

I'd love for SamS to post the older catalogs. I'd also love to hear what he remembers about the traits of the Haze offerings and the lineage of New Years haze. I know he mentioned he labeled them according to maturation which was a big surprise

Re: Sacred Seeds - Cannabis Crossbreeding Pioneers

" LOL! Sacred Seeds was not the first seed company and wasn't the first at breeding Sativa and Indica strains. I started Sunshine Seeds circa 1971 long before them. Advertised in the Barb as well as other student and underground papers of the times. At one point I was asked to join Sacred Seeds as they were just up the hill from my companies location. I declined, but I did work with them on a few strains. They were good people but I wanted to do my own thing. I`ve worked as an independent breeder sense then with the exception of a short stent as MC Seeds. I`m working to re-establish MC Seeds in the next few years.50 years of growing and breeding!"

Sam, do you still have those other varieties other than skunk? I'm interested in all the ones that mature in December and January lol. We are getting old brother and need to give them life; and pass them onto the next generation.

As I mentioned to madjag

This is from the horses mouth, reguarding burning bush

FYI, Burning Bush was an Original Haze with a strong Thai influence. I named it.
There were only Two Haze Brothers and they did not go to NYC and visit HT.
Joe Haze is not a Haze brother. The Haze Brothers did not grow Indica's, they grew Sativa's.
They did grow my Skunk #1 after 1980, because it was easier and faster for them.

I'm doubtful of the sunshine seed company in 71 .just like SamS Sacred seeds catalogs before 81 ,I'd like too see any from Mark Castle . I've spoke with MC a few times Pm n such cool cat .I havnt seen enough to believe all his post

I find it odd that you could call someone a cool cat, and also say you think they are quite likely lying about their seed company information.

I see that

I've been reading his post for years . He is a positive contributer , he is willing to speak in detail in pm . But I believe he has embellished abit in his post and the past . For example he has told me he was smoking SK1 in 69 . That's just one of several other things I was told I don't believe

Well I bought two joints for $5 in 1965 from the only hippie in my high school class. I stashed them outside in a jar because I was too scared to try it at that time. A year later when I was ready, they were mold hahaha.....

In the 11th grade in high school, 1976, I sold 20 joints to this girl at $1 each. She gave me a bunch of nickles, dimes, and quarters. I guess she emptied her piggy bank. There I was walking around with a pocket full of change lol.

Anyways, that's my great adventure as a dealer:biggrin:.

No worries that way.
Thanks Madjag. The funny part is since I was taking the pictures I’m not in any of them, lol. But in many cases less is best, exposure wise.

Those days we were growing the things we able to get our hands on, mostly seeds from the better grades, with minimal success (climate thing). In ’75 or ‘76 we got some beans from Cali and everything changed.

Like Mulder, I wanted to believe. I read or heard this a couple years ago and researched it pretty deep, I didn't fully finish but will work my way through now that you've reminded me. I went through the "Berkeley Barb" pretty well a couple years ago leaving off with a year or 2 to go(can't remember which years so I'll reread all to make sure). Years I looked through were 71-80. Nothing at all found on MC, Sunshine Seeds, Sacred Seeds or any cannabis seeds for sale at all.

MC seems a good guy, still want his Talk of Kabul lady, but on this one claim of ads in the Barb, Not there...

I welcome all to look through the Barb on its archives here, prove me wrong. http://voices.revealdigital.com/cgi...20--1--txt-txIN-"sacred+seeds"--------------1

It is a good read with a bunch of coffee spitters like this ad from 74

To get back on track... One of the many question's I have is this ad placed in 79 for "Sinsemilla Marijuana Perfume". Curious in 79 what the smell was for "California virgin marijuana flower"?

Regarding the super potency of the skunky skunk, I remember in 94 getting some white widow for the first time and how people raved how great the variety was, it was just ok to me, like most varieties today really. The skunky skunk blew the widow out the door all day. Nothing compared and still today doesn't even come close.

G`day HMK

It would seem that this elusive SK you guys are chasing was a cordinated operation .
That for one reason or another was shut down .

Who has the brains , balls and network to pull such an op ?

Organised crime . Be it Mafia of diff ethnicity or bikers .
To distribute a product as far and wide as RKS was you need networking .

The network decided it was no longer a good margin and discontinued ...

Thanks for sharin

EB .
