I think a lot of the weeds from way back in the day came across the borders with some other chemicals on them from harvest and perhaps opium or coca residue. Thats why a lot of old time smokers are chasing a high that doesnt exist in cannabis.

Not so sure about that. Some of the buds of old were definitely potent. I believe they were just undiluted. When I started smoking pretty much everything was imports. I imagine the same when Haze and Skunk were created…the plants used were not as cross bred so much as things are today.

I would trade a lot of things for some of the bud I had in those days and I bet I would be very happy with the resulting effects.

I know somebody who was breeding with a plant they did this to, i guess to make more chromosomes active? I didnt know about it till i actually grew some out. Im not sure if genetically modified is the correct term, as i think that implies something was added or removed, these were just altered to make more of there genes active so more traits would show up.

Maybe your right, but personally i think its a combination of stuff. I been growing a lot more landrace type plants trying to find some highs like the ones back in the days.

Perhaps our drying and curing methods are also different. Most dry in the complete dark, but I bet a lot of that stuff that was imported was dried in little huts with light shining through and a lot of it even sun dried. Theres a lot of variables, i just personally think one of them is the effect with different age and or experience.

Are you kidding me, you act like marijuana cant be genetically modified when its right in your face that it has been. They have GMO'd all kinds of plants. I do not claim to be a scientist or that i know anything about genetically modified marijuana, all i can say is that the marijuana i smoked from 85-96 was not like marijuana of today...this has nothing to do with tolerance or any other reason other than that weed was 90% stronger back then. The only thing that makes any sense to me is that it was genetically modified. I have to add i wasn't a kid back then...i am 43 years old. Other varieties of marijuana were around but they didn't have the effect of the RKS, you could build a tolerance to the piney smelling stuff that was around but i couldn't ever build a tolerance to the RKS that's why we only smoked that variety.

real rks is a unique blend of terps. there were monster thai buds and tiny kush buds, but the odor and effect was identical

What i am imagining is that the RKS of today may smell Skunky but does it have that crazy effect and the no tolerance thing? Who is to say that someone didn't GMO this variety back then and design it for perfection, because that's exactly what it was...the perfect weed! that's why people called it "The Kind" because nothing else even compared! or does to this day. Anyone who doubts this, you are claiming to be smarter than a government scientist...thats some bold ass nutsac.

Can you explain to me how nostalgia gets you high? You did not smoke the same weed i did. I told you other varieties yes i could easily build a tolerance to but not the RKS not in the decade i smoked it daily. I am not trying to be complicated, i had this discussion with people in the 90s that would only smoke RKS and it was the same thing, nothing else worked the same.

Define "Road Kill".

What is the smell exactly? Is it skunk spray only, or does it have actual rotting carcass smells? Are the smells in flower only, or also part of finished product? Would you consider a plant that say, smells heavily of skunk spray and onions in flower, which cures to pure skunk spray in the buds, roadkill? Or, does it have to be the litteral definition of roadkill (rotting flesh)? Seems the only thing in common with most ppls stories is the skunk spray smell, and not the decomposing meat smell.

Back in the day they called it "The Kind" i never heard it called Road Kill Skunk until i discovered this thread. It smelled like skunk spray, but in a super strong way, it would burn your dam nose. A small nug could stink up a warehouse. It only took one hit and you were pealed for 4+ hours. I just took 5 rips off of some Shark Attack dry sift, i was buzzed for about 20 minutes....

Lemon Seeds are not that big. I dont want to go back and search this thread for the person who said this but i have seen seeds like that myself. The very first time i ever grew bud i was 18 living a block off of haight street in SF, i scored a skunk sac from panhandle park and found 2 seeds in it, they were HUGE, i jumped on the Bart headed over to Berkeley and bought my first hid. I grew 2 skunky ass plants out almost finished them then my paranoid brother ripped them out and tossed them in the dumpster while i was at work all because a cop car was hanging out on the corner. I salvaged and smoked the shit and it was still dank as fuck.
