The ripe banana method to get more females.

It's a kitchen tip to ripen avocados by putting them in a bag with bananas too. Has anyone seen the ads on tv for those bags that keep produce fresh for much longer. It has something to do with holding/releasing certain gases that keep things fresh. I wanted to experiment with these for some long-term storage.
I'll give the bananas a try, my ratio really sucked this year. Had 'em turning male also. I think this was partly due to the seeds, they weren't stored that well & had been picked over for 2 seasons.
The book "Marijuana Botany" has a little info on these kinds of enhancers, guess I'll read up on it again. There's getting to be alot more info out here on hormones. I don't know if I really want to start messing with plants with chemicals I don't really understand. I need to do more reading on this.

Good read, I munch bannanas all the time & have some new seeds to give a bash as my next Sativa dom strain. Anything to potentially increase the fem ratio without having to unlock the safe sounds like a cool idea.

Ethylene has been used for a long time, but if you don't think it works then don't try it. If I needed to ensure the maximum # of females this is what I'd do. I already give them cool temps, high N feedings, cool white lighting, and 20 hour days. I'm small scale so I don't have the huge numbers that people are asking for, but I'd say I'm at 60%+ female with that alone, I'm sure I'd see a boost from this.

I have used a product called Sensa soak when germing seeds wich says it increases the female ration. I used the bottle through the coarse of about 30-40 seeds and i can say without a doubt it did increase my female ratio however it wasn't 100%. I would hazard to guess it was a 80% female rate.

What i did was put the seeds in a papertowel and soak the paper towel with sensa soak rather than water. It lasts quite awhile like this

Howdy folks,anyone know if ethylene gas comes bottled, seems that would be less mess and seedling in cups could be put in bags full of gas during their first days of growth to boost the fem ratio. just a thought

I,ve had 100% success reversing sex of females with my homemade colodial silver solution, made Sour Diesel fem seeds and others with absolutely no hermies resulting from 100s of plants, and CS is free, when made at home.

So where are the reports? At least 3 people said they were in the process Last Year, and no real detailed reports yet. Hmmmm This is the trouble with introducing new ideas ... people need to Follow Up on them or they are just a waste. We have some Yayyy sayers and some Nay sayers but nobody has documented a damn thing that I can see besides a word of mouth (written page) "80% here" and "Nothing there". cellar dweller and Burt can you at least come back and tell us you gave up or whatever? Wrong? male, female & intersex. please correct me if im wrong, i think the average ratios are 30% male 15% true female and the vast majority are intersex.
it can be confusing when people say that they get 50/50 male female when in actual fact most of those will express the interex genes with environmental manipulations. males with pistil... females with nannas.
what im saying is you cant change the sex of the true plants. intesexed plants changing sex is a given yeah...
im no expert on the subject though

I am not sure that is correct. In nature many times a female or male will change if enviromental conditions call for it. Its not as easy as saying it is predetermined or set in stone. My 2 cents.
