The recent invention of cannabis botany is a scam

"Cannabis is a c3 softwood, short-day plant, and is grown accordingly."

So are spinach, peanuts, cotton, wheat, rice, barley , chrysanthemum, rice, soybean, onions , African violets , christmas cactii and poinsettia.
Research on any individual species was apparently unescessary as they apparantly all grow the same.

There is no cannabis botany. Just botany. The recent invention of cannabis botany is a tool to exploit the cattle, it's a marketing strategy to get you to spend more money on products than you would need to. It's also there to create problems in your grow which you need more products to correct. In the end you have mediocre weed, and are dependant like slaves on corporate seed banks.

Cannabis is a c3 softwood, short-day plant, and is grown accordingly. The plant is unique, just as any other plant, but its environment it developed in (the earth) is not special to cannabis alone, but to all plant life.

You dont have to be the cattle.
I have to agree somewhat and disagree. I agree there is a lot of scamming out there but there he been plenty of invention specific to cannabis. For instance. The breading THC dominant auto flower, high CBD, and all kinds of other cannabinoids also feminised seeds. So this was my Bible back in the day none of this was around back when Clarke wrote the book, that's copyright 1981 it a nice read I still recommend it !

I still have my original copy of that too! I would like to add ( in reference to the original premise of this thread) that I don't care for the direction the cannabis industry has taken - this plant can grow very well almost on it's own - no special fertilizer or snake oils to make the plant into something it isn't.
When I start reading about all the different aromas and flavours that someone gets from their plant(s) I have to quit reading. At one point in my growing career (almost 50 yrs now) I was interested in all the new stuff that came available for growing cannabis, but I have found that providing the minimum requirements for growth (with regard to fertilizer) produces the best pot.
Imho, treat the plant for what it is-a C3 short day plant, and let it express itself for what it is. The characteristics of each different cultivar will become evident by way of the difference in effect , not whether it smells or tastes like roasted lamb or some other B......t description.
There are a lot of people getting rich off of selling products that aren't needed, and although there are some honourable people still out there, there are a lot that have learned they can prey on those who are easily suggestible , to sell products that are unnecessary.
For the average home grower, all that is needed is a decent light, clean soil (free of bugs), good h2o, and a good general fertilizer, something like 5-3-5, or 12-5-9 etc, for the entire grow. The commercial end of the industry will naturally go more scientific , to try and get bigger yield etc to get more profit, but I believe that is the reason for homogeneity and bland characteristics of the high.
Sorry for ranting, this is just the opinion of a simple minded old guy (me)!

No apologies necessary. Your voice counts, and your experience gives you authority. My cannabis and houseplant fertilizer is running low. Time to get more.

We all know how those big pulpy tasteless tomatoes at the market. There is your future of cannabis. Breeding for the grower, profit, not for the end user, or quality. Big empty weed with all its energy reduced to focus on size and one compound. THC. Cannabis has many complex interactions of many compounds. This combination of variables makes up the specifics of the effects on the user.

Well its what consumers want. Tomatos in winter, full of water and no secondary plant metabolites. Wine for 3 $, beer for 50 cent, Zigaretten zum Stopfen ... This is most of the market. But there is always niches, people who are able to taste the difference, appreciate the work and scarcity of good products and are willing to pay the extra. Point is: Cannabis is not a niche anymore, at least in USA. Not everyone can produce craft for 30$ a gramm. But there is demand for that, over in the US and also in Europe. Noone will be able to teach people and change the market, we can see this all over the place. Germans always saying they love good beer, but in the end they drink öttinger, bitburger, Krombacher ... while there is GOOD beer. People drinking tetra-pack wine ...

I dunno. You always saying genpools are eroding, nothing is like it was ... But sadly thats what the market wants. All we can do is grow our own outdoor weed and go for the best we can do and share with lovely people. ;)

Still standing with my point that there is cannabis botany and cannabis science ;D

hey, is that a Sage/Gastroback tea-maker between your tomatoes ? I think I have the same one - I love that thing

If you drink good tea, you grow good produce ? 😃
We drink plenty of tea but are more coffee snobs around here - it’s a tea maker but basket internal thing no longer works, we use it to boil water, it’s over 14 years old now & still working perfectly…

Using it as I type

One Ton Organic Composted Chicken Manure in convenient 50# sacks, looks like it lasts @ here just about 5 years, under $200 a year to grow tons of food (literally) annually and endless buckets full of herbs, can’t beat that y’all ;)

KISS

In my humble opinion most get led astray when growing due poor watering techniques & a lack of understanding of transpiration

By far the endless intellectual waxing about breeding to produce a stable and consistent "strain" of cannabises that nas yet to even remotely do either really cracks my unedumacated ass up.
"Breeders"
😆
Exactly. If you can grow a tomato plant, you can switch and grow a cannabis plant with no problem. This is for the home grower, this topic. I should emphasize that. I may go nuts too if it becomes a comparison of large scale grows and breeding operations. It's really about the scam and average joe pipe stuffer. True cannabis breeders won't be so gullible. They know their art already and can see the bullshit as it leaves the mouth.

Specific research is certainly not a scam in itself nor was a century of hemp research before it.

The scam is the misinterpretation and outright lies from nutrient suppliers to sell overpriced and overpackaged products , few if any of real use , and selling what should be a dry salt in the most profitable way possible.

People who can afford to invest in research are usually looking for a particular result, a lot of it doesn’t make sense.
Why the Lebanese population Raphael Mechoulam was studying when he discovered cbd was a mix of type 1 2 and 3 plants, that’s the sort of variety one would expect from f3, not p1.
Why has no plant that tests pure landrace yet been found to contain any cbd at all?
It’s all bollocks, believe half what you see and nothing you hear these days, we’ve been lied to about so many things, cognitive dissonance blinds us from the truth.

What you mean, who can invest in research?? Can only speak for europe / germany, but most of universitary research is independend, otherwise its marked as "conflict of interest". Where does all the scepticism against science come from? Is it still an aftermath from corona? I am really shocked on how amateurs discredit scientists who put a life effort into science. Yeah, there is bad science, bad methodology and results arent absolute facts and can be obsolete in 5 years, but that statement is utter bs, sorry
