Meine Vater was an auto executive and they used to go out regularly for meetings that involved "martini lunches". In essence got blasted out of their gords, by the time the meeting was over, and then went back to work, lol. Cannot imagine, given my own mindset, how on earth they could have accomplished anything afterwards in that condition. Pop had advanced degrees from Deutschland, which was far ahead of our own educational system at the time, in mechanical and electrical engineering, and was one of the heads of the tool and die division. Obviously some very smart people working there or they wouldn't have accomplished a thing! Very different times than today, for sure.:p

They have a much better education system which includes accountability not just pushed through the system. I don't know if it's still like this but 2 years in the army was mandatory. My cousin did it and learned to repair and fly airplanes and helicopters, he was in the army for 15 years and when he got out he flew passenger planes for Lufthansa and then took a retirement package and bought a couple of helicopters, the guy is filthy rich now.

Well, back in my day (2004-2008) 😂 we built a shack out by the creek with all stolen materials. Had my grandads wood stove. Fold down bunk beds and hundreds of beer caps nailed to the walls. It was insane. Black out drunk at 17. I’d die if I tried that chit now.
At least it kept us off the roads some.
The older I get, the more I realize I grew up in a world that doesn’t exist anymore. When a kid could take a dollar bill and come out with candy and pocket change. Tape players. Calling your favorite song into the local DJ. Randomly selecting poor saps in the phone book to prank call.
Making mix tales dubbed off the radio😂

My grandma still had a wall mounted rotary phone. Try being caller 7 dialing that turdball of a phone. Be there all day trying to dial.
Sunday you’d hear that noise the phone used to make when it was left off the hook for a while. Dad would leave the phone off, so he could fall asleep watching the race. Sunday was the only day he wouldn't work.

Spent an hr tilling with the tractor. Working a field. I got to thinkin, and high

I bet Aliens look at us like we are crude savages.
They see me in the tractor. Going half a mile an hr. Vibrating. Loud, an assault on the senses. I bet they see that and marvel at my contentment to operate such a crude device. Humans. The whole lot are savages. Lock the door to the saucer. Don’t be around when we blow ourselves up.

There are no aliens looking, their decedents had enough and left earth a long time ago and didn't look back

He explained to me that, due to rigorous analytical testing, that by the time kids were 12 years old, they had already begun certain determinations regarding their future employment. Some at that age were already being future assigned to lower level trades, and then again at age 14, they assigned more to higher level trades, & so on. Seems mechanical. Very few people went to college, and fewer yet got advanced degrees, who were chosen to participate in advanced sciences. Had they not made the mistake and decided to attack Russia, and the Japanese attack gotten the the US involved, they very likely would have won the war. And we all might be speaking German now.

A stark difference to the west where we have people living with their parents in their mid 40's still finding themselves.

I do enjoy hearing about the world and it's history - from a German perspective - who were the Vanquished in WW2 - and I grew up with the history of the Victor's here in Britain - drilled into me - as I've heard often - it's always the Victor's in wars that get to write the history - and then I saw this 10 part documentary - which is German made - called Europa - The Last Battle - and it got me all confused - because if what they state in the documentary is true - then I was lied to and not given the full story alot in the history - that was taught to me in an English school classroom -

Have you read or watched "The Twelfth man" ? It's one of my favorite war movies.

My parents saw Hitler speak when they were teens, my sister emailed me the other day and said she found travel passes of my fathers during his rule
