I was assigned to Ft Chaffe, Ar in 1980 to provide security for the Cuban refugees Jimmy Carter allowed in, as a Military Policeman from the 977th MP Co

We had roughly 20k Cubans. Everyday I worked as either a perimeter guard or was inside on roving patrol.

I spoke with hundreds of these folks personally. 90% of them were released from prisons or mental institution's.

The last 4 years millions of people released from prisons and mental institution's from countries around the world have been pouring in.

They are not here for jobs and if they do have destination it was most likely provided by Catholic Charities.

The honest folks and children are exploited by corporations and traffickers. The criminals just become criminals here. Those are the ones being targeted.

That ^^^^^^ is complete bullshit and one of the reasons why Wikipedia can't ever be taken seriously.
I cannot tell you specifically what was in Jimmy Carter's mind when he allowed the Cuban Mariel Boatlift people to come to shore in 1980. From what I recall, and from what I read at the time, these released misfits were told to leave Cuba, and never come back, or they would be shot dead. Very likely he correctly surmised that they were mostly in makeshift, ill suited crafts, and if kept out to sea, would either drown, or starve. A rock and a hard place. Comparing those known 20K former incarcerated Cubans with the purported 4 million migrants that came in, from the multitude of unrelated countries, during the last 4 years, is not a valid comparison. If you provide a link, other than from social media hysteria, it would be of the utmost interest to me, in seeing how you surmised a direct correlation between these two very separate world events that occurred. Distanced both in geographic space, and in real time, by almost 45 years.

Cloudy with rain here starting at 33F and predicted to soar to 41F.

The good news is that my new Microsoft keyboard arrived and while not optimum size for touch typing, is light years ahead of the interim Chinese one.

A fun day on this thread yesterday, with much information conveyed by multiple parties mostly friend to friend, versus parent to child or worse yet, supreme authority to miserable unworthy slime ball miscreant. I look forward to more civil days like that.

Alas, I fried another breaker at the EV charging station but didn't discover it until late, so will be replacing it this morning. It is a 40 amp charger on a 60 amp breaker, so more investigation is required as to why.

Evening folks. Was a beautiful day, tomorrow will be too.
Worked on my car most of the day. While watching airplanes with student pilots circle overhead. It’s fun to watch. Turns around a point, slow flight, stalls, steep bank turns.
I’d rather flown than work on a ragged Civic. Alas we are not all stewards of the skies.
I have found three things in this life that are exhilarating in a good way: Sex, Flying, Scuba.

At special times, each has been paramount.

Just plain fun to be in a Spam Can (C-152) and be sooper careful enuf in slow flight to actually achieve flying backwards. <-- Don't snork. If you have a 10-15MPH wind, and you are prop-hanging, you can actually go backwards.

It is very much like balancing a broom on a fingertip. Hard to do more than a couple of seconds at first, much more possible to do with practice.

I see your sex, flying, and scuba, plus raise you white water boating and sailing, plus the puppies and kitties.

Occasionally I’ll see a 172 streak by around 6k feet, with a 40 mph tail wind. 😂. Going so fast the wings gone heat up🤣

Watching 👀 Family Guy - while the kids do their Sunday chores - started at 8am - with a 2 mile march - then water 💧 combat exercises in the gym pool for an hour - I forgot my swimming 🏊‍♂️ shorts - so just wore my underwear 😳 - because I wasn't gonna go all the way home - just to get said shorts -

Gorgeous weather here in Old Blighty today - blue skies - so sunny 🌞 - but a bit nippy (cold) - so didn't sweat during all the marching - air is crisp and oxygen rich -

Having barfed in both the Atlantic AND the Pacific, I am a seasoned sailor.

There is no escaping that going sailing is the act of being cold, wet, miserable, and seasick while going nowhere slowly at great expense. It is like being in jail with a chance of drowning.

I had a sailboat for a while. It was so slow, I used to race islands.

Yet another reason boxers and briefs are better than thong underwear!
