In my head and gave you my best estimate, raising the question of what that is worth?
As a retired facilities engineer, I've calculated solar gain and heating hunrdreds, if not thousands of times in my professional career, and have also calculated and bought numerous industrial boilers, so have some concept of boiler scale and horsepower requirements.
As it also happens, I was one of the volunteers that helped rebuild the 1976 American B-Centennial Freedom train locomotive, #4449 Daylighter, picture attached, so have some background in steam locomotion.
Daydreaming a better way is an important first step but is a mistake to assume that your dreams of steam cars is unique because they did exist at one time. They didn't persist for the reasons I've pointed out.
It is also a mistake to think oneself so gifted that all the failings of the engineers assaulting the same problem failed because they weren't.
Can we agree that if it were that easy a problem, someone would have jumped on it and steam cars would have persisted? That it will take a major breakthrough in technology to make water steam cars feasible and that there are a number of other energy advancements that will be competing with it.
