I'm not a doctor like your son, and I certainly don't play one on TV. But like a lot of things in life, the melatonin thing is more media hype than actual scientific fact. From this article:Got this from MySonTheDoctor: Over-the-counter 10mg. melatonin gummies will help you sleep. <-- take just one ten minutes before you hit the rack.
It is a great supplement to your THC vape pen hit.
Just gotta wait for that Facebook page come on... "I noticed your comments here on FB and I feel _exactly_ the same way you do. I don't want to be so bold as to send you a Friend Request, but you can visit my website (where you'll be infected with more viri than if you actually stuck it _in_ me) here at www.youdumbasssuckeryou.commeet my new girlfriend!
All I needs to do is ask her out,
So far ,she hasn't returned my 57 phone calls to her.
She must be busy...

You are pretty close. But there is more data. It has to do not with normal folks, but for adults with constant pain present (different from broad/general population subjects): The melatonin helps getting them to a sleeping state over the "pain disturbance" hump. Then the other endorphins kick in to aid in allowing them to stay asleep.I'm not a doctor like your son, and I certainly don't play one on TV. But like a lot of things in life, the melatonin thing is more media hype than actual scientific fact. From this article:
Efficacy of melatonin for sleep
Here's the tl;dr version:
"Trials in adults have shown exogenous melatonin to have modest efficacy in primary insomnia, with an increase in total sleep time of 12.8 minutes, and a reduction in sleep latency of 4 minutes.
For that amount of sleep, and in hospital work I've done back-to-back 16-hour shifts so I know a little bit about sleep deprivation, ingesting melatonin, for so little gain (_13_ minutes), would not be worth it, at least for me.
But for all those non scientific types, who aren't as skeptical as I am, the placebo effect is front, center and fully functioning.
Which is probably the main reason your son recommended it.
OMFG!!!!aint that the truth
I don't go on Facebook! I have been in Facebook jail more times than I can count..... can't help myself.
