It's nice and rainy here. Unfortunately she's tutoring a friend's kid in some calculus. Hence the walk to the compost.

Calculus was the longest three years of my life.

Just got word that my friend (99 years old) just lost his wife. He is a sweet old guy and also had great stories like Walt. He fought with the 5th Marine Division in the Battle of Iwo Jima for the entirety of the 36-day battle. I’m going to visit him on Tuesday and to her funeral on Saturday.

The Marines lost a lot on men there. About 7,000 casualties IIRC.

Awright S&S, as the oldest here, I am gonna haveta regale you with some of my wartime adventures.

There I was in my B-17, with three engines burning and one of them turning... and the autopilot had just bailed out with the last parachute, leaving me with a silkworm and a needle. I was one busy muthafukka...

I look forward to hanging out if stories of this magnitude are being shared. Hell yes! Sounds like the silkworm did you right if your here to share that tale.

My grandfather was a navy cb in wwII. He fought as a marine in the 5th division till they took iwo jima. They kept him there to help build the airbase. He went to okinawa too, but it had been mostly taken by the time he made it there. Sorry about your friends loss of his wife.

we liked the dexies , Dexedrine and some we called M&M’s….we would get wired up for a day or two then get a bag of weed and a bottle of Boones farm and crash and burn
