A former friend up here used to spend time in Bali, Bangkok., and Phuket.

I'd been interested in Bhutan lately.

I figure that any place that measures national well-being or success via a 'happiness quotient' for their Country, rather than a GDP, is probably my kinda' place.

Recommended yesterday to an aging member of the 1970's Hippie School in the Yukon that they hold the next reunion there, but I suspect it might be a bit too far for the average attendee to travel.

Do you know what variety? Just curious. When we moved from Miami to Homestead after my grandfather died Dad bought a model house that was on the future site of Dadeland Mall. Concrete block terrazo floors 3 br 2 bath house was jacked up and loaded onto a trailer and hauled south. Nana had 10 acres of land my Grandpa had planted with mangoes and avocados. I spent a lot of hours with my Dad spraying mowing picking packing loading those fruits.

Kent mangoes are my favorite.

It's the new Zill M-4. Zill used Kent to make a lot of his designer mangos. I used to have all the great Gary Zill designer mangos which I grafted to rootstock. Lost most to some catastrophe, heater failures and such, which has now been resolved with lots of spare propane tanks, wireless temp alarm, etc. I still have Lemon Zest, Orange Sherbet, Glenn, Juicy Peach and Pickering. Hope to get Rosigold from Alex of Tropical Acres. Lost stuff like Pineapple Pleasure, Fruit Punch, Cotton Candy, etc. Folks who have never tasted a homegrown mango don't know what they're missing. One of those eyes closed over the sink experiences, pure Nirvana! :)

We had an incredible avocado last night from my greenhouse, just pure nutty cream, very rich, super small seed. I only grow SoCal types like Jan Boyce, Kona Sharwil, Reed, Ardith, GEM, Lamb Hass, etc.

@buzzmobile, do you know Carlos delaTorre of Homestead? He used to have a 20 acre orchard. Great site, good friend. Haven't touched base with him in years though. He's been hit by that damn laurel beetle and hurricanes. https://www.myavocadotrees.com/

Im doing a simple grow right now using Jacks. Normally I use a much more complicated nute protocol, but I wanted this to be as little maintenance as possible. Jacks is SUPER simple compared to that! COLD TAP, NO PH, 1/2 TSPN per gallon every water from beginning to end, last 2 weeks I use Ph'd RO....even that likely isnt necessary but old habits die hard.

Yep, old habits die slowly. It's called a "paradigm" driven behavior which I never fell into.

Think that's simple, try Osmocote Indoor-Outdoor Plus. While folks are busy ranting about and fucking up their faves with cannabis rocket fuels via forum bro science, especially the "bloom foods" which always ends up in a disaster, I'm just watering mine with rainwater and watching them grow. For example, here's one in the greenhouse. This one just sexed female.

Used Jack's for decades. Still am using 2 25# bags - Petunia Feed and the 25-5-15. Shitcan those cannabis foods. They suck.

BigSur51 has grown bin 100% perlite. I would think vermiculite would cause root rot.....

Vermiculite is all I'll use to bulk up and aerate. Perlite breaks down easily, tends to compact and breathing the dust is not cool.

Root rot? Quite the contrary. If you got root rot you may not have enough foliage wicking off excessive soil moisture. My problem is being lazy about watering which always ends up in some leaf loss.

Perlite is in Berger BM7, one of the best pine bark/peat based soils I buy albeit it's increased 3X in a year.

Got too many irons in the fire....
