"but that land shouldn't be encumbered with a mortgage, eh?"
Nor should property taxes be applied after the mortgage is paid, essentially we already own nothing and rent forever as well as property taxes inflate and even moreso every improvement you make

I don't want to hear any,'I own this place, well me and the bank'. Skin in the game, keep the riff-raff out of politics and let the grown-ups handle it.

they're feeder kings, still out in the ocean....i got so picky in alaska i would only eat salt water caught salmon, not those clapped out falling apart river fish
I’m funny about salmon as I once saw worms in a piece from the market. Turned me off for it for life I think. I don’t buy any farmed fish either. Usually has to say wild caught at least for me.

my guess is that you have never watched a LIV golf tournament..

I will wager that if you watch an LIV tournament there is a good chance that you will NOT be bored

there are no advertisements , shotgun start ( every player tees off at the same time but obviously on different holes)…

and they only play 3 rounds of 18 holes instead of 4

and LIV has more talented golfers than the PGA
You have to have played golf to enjoy watching the game. Golf is much more difficult than it looks. I stand in awe.

yeah,i saw a salmon on a light table and it was riddled with parasites, and many times cutting one open the belly was full of tapeworms...i swore off sushi after that...that said, many times out fishing there was a little hibatchi grill on a davit and we would cut some sections of belly meat and quick marinate it in soy sauce, sesame oil,and a little brown sugar and give it quick cook...sashimi style...
i miss fish, but i live in the desert, the salmon they sell here is considered sled dog food in alaska

My grandpa born in the late 1800's was a GP (medical doctor). My mother told me that though they were not rich they were alright compared to many, especially during the depression. Both my parents are depression kids; my dad was actually in his mid-20's when it hit. Mom told me that my grandfather worked extremely long hours, and since my mother's mom died early, the kids had a helper, but generally raised and watched out for each other. Mom said even before the depression, but especially during, grandpa often did house calls and worked for free. He was a doctor for God's sake, and took the Hippocratic Oath seriously. He cared for the needy and poor regardless. Mom remembered her dad receiving barrels of pickles, eggs, chickens, and pigs for payment. Many times unexpectedly and long after the fact. Folks were honest, hardworking, and grateful then. And they were sincere and genuinely caring. We should all remember. Most folks on this thread do. That's why we get pissed off with those that don't.(y)
I lived on 40 acres for a year back around 1978 with the land owner & his wife. He held 3 jobs, farming the 40, bee keeping, and working at CF&I steel mill in Pueblo a mile south of his place.

I'd watch the mill dumping slag from my living room. It would glow cherry red in the night. I'd pick mustard grass out of the alfalfa in the field for cash. CF&I is no more. They used to make steel rail among other things.

He lived through the depression and told his offspring to "Never sell the farm!" Of course, after Mr. Morgan died they eventually sold the farm and moved north. The farm was his insurance and survival during hard times.

People get comfortable (transgender and the other goofy stuff schools are 'learning' people) and don't think that war, famine, pestilence that happened throughout history could never happen here.

That's why it's called a 'rude awakening'.

I used to be able to watch golf but I just can't do it. Too boring. Even Tiger Woods doesn't jazz it up for me. The grass is nice.
I enjoy MLB baseball and college and pro football. Some NASCAR. Horse racing is awesome but I feel bad for them.
Golf is a game where you are your own, opponent,it's all on you,it's a mental game and you find out how honest you are. You should try it, I've never watched a complete football game in my life but I'd go to a live game, to each their own
