if you live in Florida and don't use heartguard or it's equivalent you should be flogged...mosquitos will kill a dog by giving it heartworms...my ex insisted on keeping my 5 GSD's...all 5 died from heartworms...within the year...my daughter called and asked me to bury them one by one...I should have buried that bitch ex with them...
Ivermectin, the same stuff that stops WuFlu, is what I use. Available from co-op stores under brands like “Agrimectin” Heart worm injectable for cattle. Give 1cc ORALLY per 100# of dawg per month when skeetersc are out. 50# dawg gets 0.5 cc, 75# dawg .75 cc. The co-op will sell you syringes and needles, probably give them to you as a vet did me. Vets have said the stuff is good.

I had to put down my best friend of 13 years last night, the quality of his life deteriorated drastically in the last week. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. My young pup Ivan has seemingly grown up overnight and has taken on the task of being the big boy of the house. I was blessed to have touch and just as blessed to have found Ivan. I went out and had coffee at Dutch’s gravesite with Ivan this morning, and I lost it when he laid down on top of the grave and rested his head. This is his last picture , two of the greatest companions I’ve ever had in my life… I had a friend that offered to do an oil portrait of Dutch when he was in his prime, and I have this on my wall in my living room . it’s probably my most prized possession. Sorry to hear, my friend. I remember when you just got him. I hope his spirit lives on and his memory only brings you joy.

You add protein to your bean soup?
JD’S FIFTEEN BEAN AND BACON SOUP

3 Lbs bacon

5 Lbs Pinto beans dry

5 Lg Onions chopped

. Water

. Oil

Sort, rinse, and soak beans in water overnight. Add one cup of white vinegar to the soak water.

Drain and rinse beans in cool water and place in 14 qt pot.

Chop bacon into ¼” pieces and set aside.

Chop onions into ¼” pieces and set aside.

Set burner on medium and place enough oil in large skillet to lightly cover bottom when heated and add bacon. Stir and fry until crisp and then remove from skillet, drain add to soup pot.

Add onions to skillet and cook until translucent.

Add onions and bacon grease to soup pot and add enough water to cover beans about an inch.

Add lid and set burner on high and bring mixture to a rolling boil, skimming off the foam that rises, then reduce heat to a slow simmer, stirring regularly, and cook until beans are soft. Add water as necessary.

When serving, I like to add fresh chopped onion stirred in for added taste. You can improve the taste of almost anything by adding bacon or onion.

Take Timmy for his afternoon walk and end up with bruised rib. Damn Ice got me, but I'm fine.

You gotta be careful.....Mrs Pute took a fall last week. Got a bruised knee for her trouble. On our walk today the path was full of bikers. Happens on the weekend. Also finally seeing the ice huts on the lake. Been at or over 60f for the last 3 days and yet there they are. Not my cup of tea.

A good time to buy a boat, in the winter when they continue to pay moorage and its to cold to sail comfortably or sunbathe, plus the maintenance at the end of winter before sailing it again.

Dogs are the exercise machine that never gathers dust, so we use slip on crampons when we walk the pups in snow or ice.

They work really well and are easy to slip on or off, as well as being compact enough to carry in a coat pocket.
