Was it a specific vaccine, IE heartworm?

I don't recall them pointing to a specific vaccine.

My last guy was on heartworm chewables from the time we rescued him as a pup. He outlived the normal lifespan for his breed. He died from neurological issues

I've always been skeptical about the heartworm and flea & tick meds but have yet to see an issue after 4 dogs, 2 different breeds.

The last GSD that we raised from a pup and didn't die of cancer, we shampooed but didn't use a systemic like Bravado. We also didn't give her heart worm vaccination because it was rare in this area.

The last one we raised from a pup that died at 8 1/2 from a heart tumor, we even cooked all her food for her and didn't use commercial food, but did use Heart Guard and Bravado.

if you live in Florida and don't use heartguard or it's equivalent you should be flogged...mosquitos will kill a dog by giving it heartworms...my ex insisted on keeping my 5 GSD's...all 5 died from heartworms...within the year...my daughter called and asked me to bury them one by one...I should have buried that bitch ex with them...

so far we have had early morning rain , then a dusting of snow , and now some sunshine

some noise under the tiny home woke me and Swede up about 2am

sounds like we may have a big rat

looks like I am on rat patrol

there are a few feral cats that come around our place about once a day so I guess poison or big rat traps are a no no?

any ideas are mucho appreciated

I'm guessing a flash flood. I can remember being rousted around midnight from a campsite on the river by the Rangers because a wall of water was headed our way.

not something one would want to wake up to…

say , not to be morbid , but did you ever hear about those Girl Scouts who were murdered while they were on a camp out with a bunch of Girl Scouts?…

or those girls who were sleeping together in a sleeping bag and a rattlesnake crawled in the bag and killed them?.

.I think that happened in Oklahoma , I know the murders were , the murders were blamed on a Cherokee named Gene Leroy Hart..

Yale did a big study of cats and dogs, 80,000. Which has since disappeared.

It showed vaccines were the main culprit.

All our dogs were on Nex Gard flea and tick chewables. None got cancer
I ran a kennel for a long time and vaccinated dogs didn't live as long. I no longer vaccinate or give shots, the only vaccination I consider is rabies due to liability but I haven't given it to Marvin because we don't have many rabies cases around here and he's only in the bush with me. I also use nexguard ultra for a few months when the ticks are plentiful

They used to be rare here but as things have warmed up it's the responsible thing to do here as well.

You mentioned the change in Ivan's demeanor once he became Number 1 Dawg and it reminded me of our second GSD female named Brandy. She was one of the pups from Grayfox's first GSD female named Babe and was the only pup that she kept.

We kept her because she was the Alpha pup from the litter and was extremely suspicious of strangers, so the pups that were more friendly toward strangers went first.

She acted like Number 2 Dawg until Babe died at 6 1/2 from renal failure, and that day her personality changed like flipping a switch, and she acted like Number 1 Dawg taking care of business from that day forward.
