Before metric wrenches were sold on mass in the states. (expensive before) Some people needed wrenches to fit metric bolts. Think of all the german stuff brought back from the war. VW's Porsha's V2 rockets ect. They were metric. 9/32 is 7mm 25/64 is 18mm 13/16 will fit a 21mm 1/2" will fit 13mm on and on. I have both sets of tools and use them with metric and standard. The switch to all metric in most manufacturing was around 1994. That's when cheaper metric wrenches hit the market on mass.Lots of old stuff. Not much need for a 13/16-25/32 combo wrench. Why do you need a 26/32 and a 25/32 nut? Glad we consolidated that 1/32 difference ditched the 25/32
Of course we turn around and do the same thing with metric. 5mm, 5.5mm, 6mm.

Sorry to hear that,they are like family, I wish you both the best.I had a shepherd once and when I woke up he was laying on the floor and couldn't get his back end up off of the floor,he was paralyzed but his front legs were fine. I picked him up and took him to the vet and the vet gave him an injection and 5 minutes later he was walking around. I couldn't believe it, I never had to do it again,he was about 9 at the time and lasted a couple more years before he passed and was happy during the remaining years. The vet said his spinal cord had swelled so the messages were not getting though to his legs.
That makes a lot of sense. I know the common ones 7/16,1/2,9/16 etc for the metric counterparts. I should have considered the metric thing, definitely a lot of metric stuff was swapping around after the war.
