I just finished filling out my online patient portal for my upcoming cataract surgery. Took forever.....page and question after question. I just did it for the pre op visit. But, they are unaffiliated so I had to do the damn thing over again.

I have done this every time I see a new doctor or specialist....isn't there a way to merge this....?

Good day OM. Hope you are doing well.

Just spent a half hour adjusting my thermostat for the winter. We lost power last summer for hours and the thing lost all auto programing. We have been running the a/c manually. I had to watch a video on how to program the thing. Technology.....pain in the azz......
Hello Pute, the talk of tomatoes is slimming down and we are onto indoor projects. Mostly.
Things are well at home and I am grateful for that, thank you and I hope the same for your home.

I found out out if I touch my thermostat while the furnace is running it will mess with the electronics, so never touch the thermostat until the furnace stops running. I think it was maybe 8 years ago we put in a high efficiency gas furnace. Works great as long as you don't mess with the controls while in operation.

Oh yeah, technology, it sure has gotten a lot more complicated over the years. At least you have hair to pullout.:)

In some parts of BC living on $17.20 an hour would not make you well off at all, not even close. After deductions your talking about $2200.00 a month, some places that might cover your rent.

I do have empathy for those who have to struggle to live when they work full time and their pay checks are gone the moment they get them, there are no extras, there isn't even enough money to pay for all that you need.

Everyone who earns a living, deserves to earn a proper living.
That may be true and I agree they do but raising min wage just raises inflation so it's chasing the tail.Trades people aren't compensated and their wages stagnate. Min wage has gone up $7 in a few years and trades contracts are at 2%

Target practice looks like to me!

The ILA contract that expired on Monday shows that the starting pay for dockworkers was $20 per hour. Pay rises to $24.75 after two years, $31.90 after three and tops out at $39 for workers with at least six years on the job.

Meanwhile, the ILA is demanding a 77% increase over the duration of the contract, with a $5 increase each year of the contract. Workers would make $44 the first year, $49 the second and up to $69 in the final year.
Meanwhile the MSM is making it sound like they're filthy stinkin rich...

Hell on Earth?

Did they use a red filter to enhance the effect? Sure seems to be 'redder' than one would think.

The price you pay for the politicians you elected... apparently, it's a two-way street?

There are some that like it this way but it sure as hell isn't the average person.

I have no idea how it could all be fixed, and just exactly who would be willing to level the economic playing field for all.

I don't see anyone who would go against the grain of the present economic system. It works very well for some who have the advantages. Why would they want to change that.

My son is a tradesman, he is a plumber & gas worker, in Alberta. He has worked his way up within a new company determined to be at the top of their industry. These days he mostly does the ordering of materials and over sees work projects. I don't think he does much actual plumbing but never the less he is still a tradesman. I know how his family has to work hard for their life. They both work and have 2 young children. they do well for themselves but they are not wealthy by any means. It's expensive living in Calgary.

It would be nice if all working citizens didn't have to struggle, that's all I care about.

I better get at my chores.

all the best Dime

I don't like to go by myself anymore. I am not that stable wading a river anymore. But I will carefully go with a group or a friend.
Am in the same predicament it seems everytime I do something anymore it results in pain, I'm tired of it and you're close to 10 years older than me yet.
Mom always said take care of your feet and your back.

its not a wage gap its a skills gap

minimum wage was not meant to support a family, its the entry level wage
the more you bring to the table the better off you will be

Just finished pulling all remaining tomato's. Mrs Pute will put them in a box layered with newspaper. Every one of them will ripen. The just won't have the flavor the one's ripened by the sun.

hello GW and a very good day to you and home

Where I was exposed to asbestosis and other nasty products it was the union that brought about change. I guess I should say the catalyst. The big steel mills bought our product, which was produced in about 50 countries around the world, big business. When the employees(steel workers union) at the steel mills would no longer work with our product, did it bring about lasting change. I had all the admiration for the union. After all, who else was looking after my interests and health at work.

As the unions grew in power they started investing workers money. When I found out that a industry was bought up by union money and the plant closed down and the union workers at that plant let go and non union workers hired back at lower wages did I begin to change my mind. Then when I seen photos of business owners and union management down in the Bahamas sitting out on the beach together with drinks and cigars, I realized how rigged the game was.
Hello Old Man and a very good day for yourself as well!

Story for ya. I was in Walgreens getting a refill on my propane the other day. I went to the counter to pay and there was an Hispanic man in line in front of me. He didn't speak a word of English and had no idea of how to pay with a credit card. The clerk had to do it for him. He bough only a can of soda. When finished he pulled out a bag of chips and repeated the process. This went on.....he charged one item at a time. The clerk tried to tell him that he could charge them all together.....NOPE.....no communication period.

The waiting line got longer and longer until another checker had come and open another register. Amazing.
