Supporting freedom of speech means defending the right of people saying things you don’t agree with. Sadly, we have not seen much of that recently. Freedom of speech has been usurped by censorship and propaganda in direct violation of our first amendment right to free speech.

Like many on this forum, I served in our military in support of our constitution, including the first amendment right to free speech, and don't take it lightly.

I've come to believe however, that with rights come responsibility and given that we are not unique in having rights, we have to give some thoughts to other's equal rights, including the pursuit of happiness.

How long would our civilization last if our society becomes so narcissistic that everyone always say exactly what is on our minds with no consideration of its truthfulness, impact, or indeed actual compelling need for our discerning input?

Like many on this forum, I served in our military in support of our constitution, including the first amendment right to free speech, and don't take it lightly.

Agreed. Filtering what comes to mind is integral to society in a similar mode as filtering actions are. I think there is a fine line between absolute freedom of anything and being a good member of the human race. Impulse control or lack thereof is the difference between community and anarchy.

Ok - so I don't see us old farts here striving for a better life particularly - more like just surviving and striving for a bit more life - with a bit of quality in it - as for the opposition - to interact against - we've all been doing that for decades - simply by growing a plant in purgatory - and if that pisses them off - then tough titty - and that's just fine with me -

But onsite - we need peace and harmony - so that the members are comfortable here - and anyone that comes here to erode or destroy the peace - gets a short or long vacation from ICMAG - free of charge -

You guys dont want to see real freedom of speech...trust me.

I do and I have for most of my life.
I want everyone to feel free to be themselves openly its the only way to know if you actually like somebody.
If everyone is self censoring then no one really knows anyone......... which I believe is part of the divide and conquer.

I was held accountable for both my words and deeds as a child.
I think the issue today lies in the lack of accountability and self discipline.......... stems from single parent homes and no second place,or first for that matter.
