I know for one, I am looking forward to the 2010 season of fighting.

I can see fighting on tv anytime I want now, I have like 3 Channels that show fighting pretty much all day.

But Rashad Rampage needs to happen very very soon

do fighters ever really retire?

MMA is fairly new, so it does not have the history of other pros retiring to come back

But Tito Ortiz would be a great example

Damn that's awesome Dr. dog... Which provider, and channels would those be?

I've followed the ufc since the first few tournements. I haven't missed a fight in years, but rarely do I catch a strike-force, k1, or another organizations fights on tv with the dish provider/plan I currently have.. I catch them on ppv every now and then, but as for regular channels just spike... I'm a big mma/ufc fan, though I'm nowhere near as worldly as some of ya'll seem to be with the sport.. I'm missing out on a hell of a lot a good fights..

As far as Rampage blizz, Back a ways in this thread, I think it was NateDizz who said he backed outta the Rashad fight due to taking some movie role...

I get

Fight network all day fighting

Showcase, has a lot of boxing and starting to show MMA

Rogers Sportsnet shows quite a lot of fighting

HDNet has tones of fighting, especially on the weekends, getting live feeds from like Japan for K1 events

Interesting watching these too, no commercial breaks, just background noise and crowd shots.

didnt rampage retire?

Yeah he kind of had a tizzy for a few weeks. Had a movie role that forced him to not be able to fight till a much later date than the UFC wanted him to fight Rashad so Danna White kind of called him out on it saying he new he had an obligation when he took the coaches role on the Ultimate fighter show. Well then Rampage tweeked and said he was retiring but last news I hears him and Danna are talking now so I'm sure it's all good now.

'Sup guys?

It's hard to tell exactly what's going on with Rampage and the UFC. My understanding up until this point (and I could be wrong) is that Rampage will be coming back to finish out his contract (I'm not sure how many fights are left but I'll try to find out and get back) and then he claims he'll be permanently done with the sport to persue acting full time. This was all posted on his twitter or website a few weeks ago I believe. I think Ramapage has burned himself bad though. His relationship with the UFC (particularly Dana) has become a hate-hate relationship with each side taking many verbal shots at each other recently. However, nothing is final. Look at the situation with Tito and the company and yet he still was contracted to come back on two different occasions. It's a business and money runs the show and Rampage and Tito (formerly) are / were very popular draws so who knows what will happen. Dana claims that Rampage -vs- Rashad will happen next year when Ramapage returns no matter the outcome of Rashad's fight in a couple weeks though.

"If Dana’s got a problem with me, about any texts I give my friends or anything else, if he’s got a problem with me tell him, I’ll do a boxing fight with him, but I’d show up. I’d show up with bells on. I’d show up dressed looking just like a boxer. He could even wear a head gear for all I care. That’s real, let Dana know what I said. Tell Dana if he’s still got a problem with me, we can settle the problem like men and he can make as much money out of it as he wants. He can promote it, he can put it on TV and he can pay himself a big purse." - Quinton Jackson

Anyone going to be catching Strikeforce and / or WEC tonight? For some reason the Strikeforce card really isn't doing it for me. The Thompson -vs- Melendez rematch is the only scrap I'm really looking forward to. I think the WEC card is weaker than alot of cards they've put out this year too but I'm definitely interested in Yahya -vs- Benavidez and Mizugaki -vs- Jorgensen.

Anyways, I gotta finish my Christmas shopping (wish me luck!) so I'm outta here!

I would like to see Rampage vs Boobies. On a side note I hope he comes home safe from service over seas lot of respect for anyone in the military!

Hey does anyone know when Anderson Silva is going to fight again? I don't think anyone can match up with him and the only person who could throw down with him could be GSP. But I think Silva or GSP would have to move in weight classes. Last time I saw Silva fight he knocked out forest griffen. Griffen appeared to be no match and so had no on else for silva. I mean he knock forest out while he was walking backwards defending himself. It was like stealing candy from a baby.

I have to say silva is p4p the best fighter in the world.

Way to rub it in :wallbash::wallbash::biglaugh:

LOL

funny, I had not even thought about that, sorry man

I actually got a prediction right, I thought Melendez would win

anyone ever watch Tapout when it was on? That was my first introduction to MMA that set it off for me. Most of my favorite fighters were featured as tapout fighters...Melendez was one of those fighters

as for Silva being p4p, possibly

but BJ Penn, GSP, even Matt Hughes might have a call for that

What about Fedor for best p4p? It's kind of a hard call though in the fighting game as theres always newcomers and one punch can knock someone out and down in the ranks very easily. It's been happening for years people thinking that one guy is the best or unbeatable but then someone discovers there weekness and its all over.

For example back in the early part of the UFC Mark the hammer Coleman was said to be unbeatable at the time. But then he lost a fight that went into very late rounds and everyone discovered he gassed in the late rounds and his hands would drop before you knew it everyone was knocking him out.

That Strikeforce card actually turned out fantastic. Melendez looked great and will hold that belt for awhile if he can stay focused. But the Kung Lee vs Scott Smith fight had me yelling and waking the kids up at the end. I loves seeing Smith knock Kung out especiallly late and after he had been geeting round house kicks to the head the whole fight.

Never did see Tapout. What was it on tv or PPV?

I wish direct tv would bring VS back.... the strikeforce card was pretty good. Glad to see my boy Scott Smith come through with the wind. Lee was just getting a lil took cocky and flashy trying to get a highlight reel knock out.

Dr. Dog, If I had to put my money on the p4p best I think I'd have to take silva but that is how I feel. Any one of the guys you mentioned are also worthy to be mentioned in the discussion. With the exception of Hughes who I feel couldn't beat any of the three. I just feel like Silva hasn't fought in forever because they can't find anyone for him to fight he has beaten everyone up in his weight class. I drool thinking of a match between Silva & GSP.

How does anyone else feel? who do you guys think is the p4p best fight right now????

i forgot to talk about the "Big Baby" vs "Meathead" fight. let me start by saying this. How could that giant of a man let them introduce him as "big baby"..."The Darkness" would have been a much better choice. as for the fight, both fighters were kinda exposed in this one. Marcus has a soft chin and Meathead has no gas tank.

as i see it Meathead is in better shape here. you can train and improve your cardio, but its MUCH more difficult to make your jaw tougher. sorry Marcus. i was rooting for ya, but i guess thats why they wear helmets in football.

last but not least, Roy Nelson. Roy, Roy, Roy.... you talked all the shit in the world on the show, good on you for finally backing it up. the wierd al intro and the burger king plug were 100% sheer win. (for those that are wondering, i WAS rooting for Roy in this one. it just goes to show that us fat fuckers can throw hands too.)

Yep Roy has character and a good sense of humor. I liked it after he won how he got on the rope and rubbed the belly. Like rubbing budda

I think Anderson is p4p the top guy right now and has been for awhile. GSP isn't too far off and Fedor is always in the discussion too but I think Andy's just been keeping a step or two ahead for awhile now.

I can't fuckin' wait for Silva -vs- Belfort. I'm not going to pick against Silva but I think that if this fight stays on the feet and there's a good chance it will, it could be a tremendous fight and could go either way. If there's anyone who has a chance of keeping up with or beating Anderson on the feet it's Belfort. Anderson is a more diverse striker but Belfort's remarkable hand speed and power will make up for any shortcomings, not to mention he's been focused for awhile now. I'm dying to see this fight, two of my favourites in the division for sure.

Anderson by decision

108 tomorrow peeps, who's catchin' it and what fights you looking forward to?

Silva -vs- Rashad should be a scrap and I'm pullin' for my boy Thiago to get the win. Silva by (technical) knockout.

Another favourite of mine is fighting in Paul Daley but I can see this fight going badly for him. Hazelett is wizard on the ground and Daley's been caught many times on the mat. Hazelett still has to get the fight to the ground though, because if he doesn't he's toast, but he's crafty and isn't afraid to pull guard. Daley is a strong dude though so we'll see. These two couldn't be more opposite. Hazelett by submission

Dos Santos -vs- Yvel is one of those fights that you just know someone is getting their lights turned out. Anyone who doesn't know of Gilbert Yvel should check out a highlight reel of him on youtube or something. He's a brutal dude. Yvel's never reached his full potential because he seems to be a psychopath alot of the time but on a good night I think he can flatten out anyone. I'd love to see Gilbert win in the big show more than most people but I have to pick Dos Santos by (technical) knockout because he'll have a good gameplan.

I'm glad the Kampmann fight will be free on Spike because I would have been pretty upset not to see it. I just don't know about that cat though. I'm interested to see how he comes back from his last loss. I think Volkmann has potential. It may take awhile to tap into but he already went three rounds with Paulo Thiago so I think he'll be prepared for this one. This pick is a little wild, Volkmann by (technical) knockout, but we all know anything can happen.

Lastly, I think Miller should have no problem subbing Duane Ludwig.

As for Stout -vs- Lauzon, who cares?
