I really think this can be low EC, what do u think?

it can be rootbound too! the cointainer is 3 liters!

but the last hempy, the cointainer size was 2 liters and i had no problem with that!

man, i dont know i never played with an ec meter. when i see a plant like that it looks either hungry or is having trouble uptaking nutes properly because its rootbound. hopefully someone else will chime in those are just my best guesses. just joking about the exclamation points i have an ex who uses them all the time but she is usually yelling at me so i am a little shell shocked by them.

Ok thanks for the advice retro. is there any grower on here that does hempy style vertically?

Lot's of guys use verts with Hempys, I'm sure.
It works great! I wouldn't do it any other way!
Verts are cheap and easy to set up. No need for hoods. Also, in my experience, cooler temps than with hoods.

Vert hempies rule! But, I use hydroton on the bottom. Should I start filling the buckets with just coco?

No. Use something in the rez like hydroton, perlite, silica rocks. If you look at the design of the Earthbox...the media sits on top of a platform....and the rez underneath has nothing in it at all. I find it's good to have room for the roots in the rez area. Pure coco will work....but not as well I feel.

I've used hydroton both in the bottom of the pot and mixed in the medium and have found no difference in the growth of the plant. Just my 2 cents.

Hey everyone, new to growing and posting on this site.

I have a couple of these 2.25 gallon Mr beer fermenters laying around. Would these work for hempy buckets? They already have a hole for drainage. The only problem I see is having to water straight down the center of the bucket.

Forgot to mention that I planned on using coco with perlite at the bottom.

I would imagine you could, it looks like it would be a total PITA, but dont see why it wouldnt work. All though that drain hole is a little low on that thing, might not give you much of a reservoir to work with.

I would personally get those fermenters doing what they're supposed to, and make some damn beers. Then just get a 2L. 6L,1G or 3G bucket and pop a hole in it and fill with your medium.

You don't need a novelty item to make the pots, as its not the pots that are going to be giving you the great results.

Hempy's definitely speed up the growth rate like hydro, as they are a form of hydro, a more passive way. but I wouldn't go crazy searching for pots and put more focus into environment. I'm kicking myself in the ass right now because I didnt wait to dial in my room and tossed a whole bunch of gems in there just to get mediocre results as I was still tweeking the room. just my 2 cents

Yeah I had to quit drinking due to stomach issues. I loved making and drinking beer.

You are probably right about going with regular buckets. I was trying to save a couple bucks though.

I spent literally nothing on my pots, oh wait I lied, I bought an $8 soldering iron to make it all come together. but I just use old 2L soda bottles with the top part cut off and a hole on the side. Even at 2L (which I was afraid of it being too small) The yields are great.

Me too! I tried the 2l and they are great for space. I will not use them again though as we have too much space and need mucho medication. I think 2.5 gal or 10L are best. I got mine around $1.50 a piece check ur local dollar store

I love hempy's now, it's my first grow using them and they're pretty easy to maintain and grow like mad. I'm watering every 2 days, but I'm sure I'll be needing to water everyday soon in 2.5g buckets. I'm at day 3 of flower.

I put hydroton on the bottom of two buckets, and left one just perlite/vermiculite. I don't really see a difference.

My Hempy's

This was 18 days ago. They're huge now, I just haven't taken any pics lately.

I think you would if you were in coco though. Straight coco with no rock substance on the bottom can sometimes cause problems.
