the Mexican Landraces Thread

Usually are the nicknames that locals give to the Strains.
A very good friend of mine and true landrace enthusiast took the task of exploring a large part of the territory of Guerrero state. (East part)
He was analyzing what he found in his search and came to interesting conclusions
at least he was able to identify three very different varieties from each other but we believe there's many more that can be crosses between themselves.
There is still more to explore but it has always been a very dangerous area.

"Caca de cabra" (probably Acapulco Gold) it grows into area near Acapulco city.

I don't know about the nickname of this one but mainly grow into the central -east area of Guerrero state.

"Caca de chango" this one grows mainly on the north -east part of Guerrero state
Thats the Mexican shit bro  looks killer

Hola brother,

Thanks
Usually mexican Strains can grow really really tall, if you give it the good soil and start to grow it since first days of Spring
Here in México the farmers usually start to grow them quite late because with large size plants everything goes really messy
I'd love to have a year or two growing outdoors, I love to see the natural development. Growing indoors in a tiny space is challenging. I recently recovered from very bad health, so now I have more energy to put into the plants again :). I'd like to see strains like this develop fully, naturally.

This is a south Indian I grew years ago, (sold to me as Kerala in Goa). But I think you see the traits and potential for an outdoor plant.

Hi brother
I really hope that you are better with your health. Health for me is everything

Always pure sativas are best to put them straight into the dirt, on my experience pure landraces sativas never develop their full potential indoors.
There are a lot of factors that equatorial areas have that cannot be replicated in other forms of cultivation.
Your Kerala's plants looks really majestic
Certainly it needs a really warm environment to see it in all its splendor
How was it the smoke?

Thanks, 'chischas, life is looking much better than it has in years :).

She is very trippy, very dreamy! First smoke was intense, still remember it clearly.
Never got to see it outdoors, sadly... I have it planned indoor next year, looking forward to that.

peace & love,

Hope we get to see them, and best vibes for yor grow. So much beauty in the South Indian strains :). I think they were ancestors to many strains found Africa and Americas, so interesting to look at similarities and hear how you see them...

Does anyone else have a funny feeling that the "Lord of Loud" created a new account a couple weeks ago and has been having conversations with himself in this thread since then?
Man that is EXACTLY what I was thinking, just as I got to your comment here. This guy is so damn pathetic. Dude just stay in your sub forum that you pay for, stop destroying good threads with your AD-adjacent BS postings, Medman. WTF.

The suspect Thai is starting to foxtail now and still has prob a month to go at least. and some sour notes are coming in but she mainly smells like the orange zest powder in the spice rack lol. Starting to lean toward it being one of the Thai F1 crosses or one of the haze recreation seeds she made

The one thing all the land race lineage plants seem to share in common, is that they perform as well outdoors as these modern lineages so indoors. These plants never turned out like this for me indoors. I popped em here just because I had room. Outdoors they have straight up blown my mind.

P.s. I'm not trying to sell seeds, or clones, nor trade. And no idea who this lord of loud is. However, i have seeds on the way and will happily share them, no dollars or trades involved, but im not here to hype strains or try and make sells, just talk to people who may know what theyre talking about with plants like this, Because most growers of today have never even seen plants like these growing in person let alone grown any of em outside. These are special plants and it's reinvigorating to discover them first hand. Havent been this excited about growing cannabis is a long time. It's been a rough season for septoria and stuff here. These plant's are carrying my entire season on their shoulders at this point, and not even breaking a sweat.
That looks nothing like any Thai I have ever seen. Why do you do these things?

I've been growing Zacateca Tribute too. I crossed it with Snow High's Coco Loco (Colombian Punto Rojo x Acapulco) and that was a great cross. Brought in the positivity of the Colombian and Acapulco and more purple. The Zacateca I find to be a bit racy or negative thought inducing. But very interesting high with strong visual effect for me. And yea it is very fast flowering for near pure sativa. But prone to powdery mildew. I will keep working with it. Interesting heirloom geneticss.
I would personally prefer if I read about Mexican landraces when I open this thread, that's why I open it. It's been pages since there was something relevant. And don't get me wrong, it's great to compare to Colombians and other kinds of sativas, but it's a matter of balance. Don't use this thread as a grow diary of something that's neither Mexican, nor landrace. I really love to read the landraces threads for historical "flavor" - not just how some plants look, but also the story of how the seeds were sourced, what are the locals and environment that have selected the strain, photos of grow patches in the native scenery, photos that capture the locals and buildings, how they live and dress, what they eat. These threads are rich of culture. Not every post is expected to be such, but let's not dilute the essence much.

I'm currently exploring the F2s of @vermontman's Zacateca Tribute hybrid (Vermontman's Mexican heirloom x Big Sur Holy Weed). It's the best (mostly) Mexican weed I've grown and smoked. It's very quick to flower and at first I thought 'no way this is authentic Mexican' but the high and flavor are indeed authentic and lovely.

@vermontman considers his Mexican heirloom to be Oaxacan by the similarity to pictures, what's sure is that it came from Mexico (https://www.icmag.com/threads/green...agreement-with-ace-seeds.380245/post-17980311). I must say Zacateca Tribute smells very similarly to a truly special plant that was a Mexican leaning pheno of Nirvana Special - a hybrid of another Oaxacan (Sativa Mexicana x Jock Horror) of about 15 years ago... Zacateca Tribute consistently gives very similar smells, so it indeed feels like (a hybrid of) Oaxacan Gold, or a similar highland Mexican.Z
